EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was "taking the Chinese position" on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine when the potential Republican 2024 contender called the war a "territorial dispute."

During an interview with Fox News Digital on Friday, the South Carolina lawmaker and military veteran was asked whether he was concerned about the current front-runners for the GOP presidential nomination — DeSantis, who is expected to announce a White House bid, and former President Donald Trump, who already has — both having a more skeptical position of the current level of U.S. aid to Ukraine than more establishment members of their party.

"Governor DeSantis, who I respect, is basically taking the Chinese position when it comes to Russia's invasion," Graham said.

So framing this civil war over control of territory as a “territorial dispute” is the obvious path to resolution and peace. Clearly, that is not Graham’s objective.

First, I don't think we really know what numbers Russia or Ukraine have "in theater" or "in reserve".
Nor do we know how many Russian units are being cycled through Ukraine, as we did in Iraq & Afghanistan, to serve a few months and then return home again.

Second, every indication we have suggests Vlad the Invader expected a cakewalk into Ukraine, a war of conquest to be completed in a few weeks, if not days.
So, there are not more Russian forces involved directly because Vlad didn't think he'd need more.

Third, Vlad is still calling his invasion a "special military operation", as if it were a civil war and he is merely putting down a rebellion in Ukraine.
So, in Vlad's mind, Ukraine already belongs to Russia.
That is not a "territorial dispute".
Rather, it's a war to exterminate Ukraine.

Finally, war is a stress-test like no other, on your economy and culture, and Russia has not been seriously tested since 1945.
In the name of victory, Vlad will use war to reimpose Stalinist level controls over Russians and eliminate whatever 1990s era democratic reforms still remain.
Non-Russians living in Russia are already bearing the brunt of it, and Vlad still seems intent on keeping ethnic Russians happy, while reinforcing their domination over the country.
The Russian population is about 105 million Russians (72%) plus 40 million non-Russians (28%) and non-Russians, we are told, are used as cannon-fodder in Ukraine.

So, it seems Vlad needs political support of ethnic Russians and is therefore reluctant to order a full-scale mobilization which would include them.
