WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell suffered a concussion after a fall at a local hotel and remains hospitalized “for a few days of observation and treatment,” a spokesman said Thursday.
The Kentucky senator, 81, was at a Wednesday evening dinner for the Senate Leadership Fund, a campaign committee aligned with him, when he tripped and was admitted to the hospital, his office said. The dinner was at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, formerly the Trump International Hotel, Washington D.C.
Spokesman David Popp said McConnell is being treated for a concussion and “is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.”
In 2019, the GOP leader tripped and fell at his home in Kentucky, suffering a shoulder fracture. At the time, he underwent surgery to repair the fracture in his shoulder. The Senate had just started a summer recess, and he worked from home for some weeks as he recovered.

If Mitch goes the Republicans in the legislature get to pick the replacement so adios Mitch.
He ain’t got no concussion. You gotta have a brain to have one. McCommie ain’t got no brain.
>Would the Governor appoint someone?
Yes, the current Gov was an alleged Dem steal in and is up for re-election this fall. If KY can replace HIM then Mitch could retire next January and keep the seat on his side of the aisle.
Compared to his several predecessors as Senate leader Mitch is a big intellectual upgrade. Just not as big an upgrade in his policy priorities. He’s not willing near as much as I like, but when willing he can use arcane Senate procedure for us as well as the Rats use it against us.

Maybe he broke a hip.
Trump,s revenge..? Ha!
KY has a democrat governor so we need this place holder back for now.
So now it’s a concussion ... okay.
My thought too and was going to post but am over an hour too late for this thread.
Plus 1!
You’re not alone.
3.2.1. Trumps fault!
grateful to the medical professionals?
Wish others had the same.
I won’t say what I am thinking!!!
OMG LOVE this made my day!!

You know how there’s not much to a job?
When you’re 80-90 years old and still hanging in there.
Why hold the place HE IS a Dem there would be NO difference AND we would be rid of this asshat once and for all!!
The next statewide general election is for governor this November (2023).
Nah, check the recent legislation in KY”

So I’m guessing the Governor (Andy Beshear) (D) will nominate the squishiest on the list the state Pubs gives him.
It’d be funny as hell if the KY pubbies give Beshear a list of two absolute hell-raisers and Matt Bevin. However, Bevin PO’d a lot of moderates by appearing to sneak around with pension reform, so, his re-electability might be in question.
BTW, wouldn’t John Thune be in line for US Senate Minority leader?
