For the Big Sur community in Monterey County, the emergency services office went as far as advising residents and businesses to stock up on essentials that would supply them for at least two weeks. The county has also made sandbags available for residents who need them to protect their property. The Big Sur area, roughly 150 miles south of San Francisco, is one of central California's renowned tourist attractions with picturesque rugged cliffs, mountains and hidden beaches along the Pacific Coast Highway.

Big Sur is absolutely beautiful, but reachable by one highway (ex US 101/now Cal 1) that often gets closed because of landslides.

They should be used to it from all the snow.

They should have enough sense to fend for themselves and not depend on their crappy government this time

Some CA residents are urged to prepare 2 weeks of essentials ahead of expected flooding

I wonder where Gavin Newsom is going on vacation now?

Any thinking adult should have two weeks of essentials on hand at all times. Two months is even better.

https://mammothweather.com/

The storm that is imminent is predicted to have as much as 10” of water content... a real doozy of an atmospheric river. A follow on AR wave may bring in to CA, 5” more of water content.

Almost 60 feet of snow has already fallen on the summit of Mammoth Mtn.

The danger for many homes is the build up of snow that hasn’t been removed yet, and the crushing weight that might materialize, if the temperature is warm enough, and the precipitation falls in the form of rain instead of snow. This will be especially significant the flatter the roof, and the higher in elevation the structure resides, as the snow depths are typically greater the higher one ascends.
