In what may be the biggest news regarding the conflict in Ukraine since it began, The New York Times is now reporting that U.S. officials believe a pro-Ukrainian group blew up the Nordstream 2 pipeline.
That comes via “new” intelligence that has apparently been kicking around for a while.
WASHINGTON — New intelligence reviewed by U.S. officials suggests that a pro-Ukrainian group carried out the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines last year, a step toward determining responsibility for an act of sabotage that has confounded investigators on both sides of the Atlantic for months.
U.S. officials said that they had no evidence President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine or his top lieutenants were involved in the operation, or that the perpetrators were acting at the direction of any Ukrainian government officials.
While the Times says Zelensky isn’t directly implicated, the report leaves open the possibility that a proxy was knowingly used.
The other issue here is why the United States and Germany did not share this publicly and instead kept blaming Russia. They knew and openly misled about the situation when it wasn’t even necessary.
Another complication is that Nordstream 2 was important to Europe. A lot of suffering resulted and some nations, even those supportive of Ukraine, may demand consequences. Finally, the last question is why this is being leaked now. It was roughly one month ago that investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published a bombshell report purporting to implicate the U.S. in the incident, though said report rightly was met with some skepticism.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!
Yeah, sure....and the Easter Bunny stopped by here early yesterday, too.....
ZERO CREDABILITY......nada, none.
Wink,Wink.
If any of this was true (pretty marginal story if you ask me), then it triggers Article 5 of the NATO agreement, and Ukraine (if ordered by them) would be defined as an enemy.
The part of the story which fails...the ‘yacht’ was rented. No one seems to be able to explain how it was rented, how it was paid for, and the party behind the rental. You’d also be asking me to believe that they did this ‘work’ at 350 ft below the surface without a sub. Plus, the bomb residue was left ‘accidentally’ on the table of the ‘yacht’.
U.S. Navy’s deep-sea divers planted explosives on the pipeline in June near the Danish Island of Bornholm, using the cover of a joint NATO exercise to disguise their activities, then remotely detonated the bombs ..

Tony Blinken called the Nordstream sabotage "a tremendous opportunity."
U.S. LNG shippers make record profits, Europe pays 3X more for natural gas.
Um, yeah- no.
CC
you got any actual proof of that, or are you just guessing?
👍👍
It is hard to find info on the Ukrainian Navy SEALs, but they do have them as part of the Special Operations units.
“The Ukrainian Naval Infantry maintains its own small Spetsnaz force in the form of the 73rd marine Spetsnaz detachment; the detachment is named “Seals” after the United States Navy SEALs and is built around the same purpose.”
Sure, Ok.
They used naval drone(s).
Who supplied them and the intel?
Laughable, considering surface targets pose infinitely lower logistical challenges.
And if people won’t buy that, the backup plan is to blame this guy.
Pro-Ukrainian group = DOD/CIA
LOOK! Another squirrel!

What he said!
NY Times article also says and/or implies that the Ukrainian Scuba Divers stopped in Germany and picked up 1500 lbs. of high explosives for their Yacht, I guess at one of those Chinese fireworks stores? (my estimate of the weight needed, based on reading earlier stories). Apparently no one noticed the missing high power explosives (maybe they hid them under their shirts?).
Then they sailed over and went down the 250 feet (must of had some serious scuba gear, LOL), located the pipelines (at least 3 of the 4 of them, using a Radio Shack metal detector, perhaps?), planted their 1500 lbs. of explosives in just the right configuration to take them out (try doing that sometime, without practice), and later detonated them all at once, using an App from the Google Play Store (or was it an Apple app, can’t remember).
And the story was only put together 6 MONTHS after the explosions, 1 month after the Seymour Hersch article blaming the US, and 3 days after Shultz made a bizarre visit to the US, where he wouldn’t take any questions from reporters (such as “Why do you remain friends with a country that blows up your pipelines” - you know, small talk, like that).
[The above is a simple extrapolation of what we’re being told to believe...so no, no links. But if people have better explanations as to how they did it, feel free to comment.]
NYT - LOL
I wonder if that intel source or NYT has even noticed that the Ukraine doesn’t have a port anywhere near there !!!!
.
have you been keeping up with this story?
they used Navy instead of spec ops to avoid the covert requirement of congressional reporting!

Biden is the only one who publicly threatened to blow it up!
.
On February 7, 2022, in the buildup to the war in Ukraine, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, at a press conference at the White House with German chancellor Olaf Scholz, said that we can stop Nord Stream.
The exact wording from Joe Biden was “If Russia invades, there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2, we will bring an end to it.” And when a reporter asked how exactly he intended to do it, given that the project was within the control of Germany, Biden just said, “I promise we will be able to do it.”

Here’s an interview with that original author Seymour Hersh.
