The Russian army is welding 80-year-old gun mounts, originally built to arm patrol boats, onto 70-year-old armored tractors—and sending them to Ukraine to get captured by the Ukrainian army.
The up-gunned, tracked MT-LBs are further evidence of the Kremlin’s worsening equipment crisis as it struggles to make good its losses in Ukraine.
Which is why the Kremlin is pulling out of long-term storage hundreds of 50-year-old T-62 tanks, 60-year-old BMP-1 fighting vehicles and 70-year-old BTR-50P armored tractors. These awkwardly up-gunned MT-LBs just further underscore the Russians’ growing desperation.

Nothing can be believed from either side. We’ll know what happened years after it is over, maybe.
They call a BTR a "tractor" when it's an APC. If you're in the military of any NATO country, especially air or mechanized you go to school on BTR.
Then again, Forbes has become a hunk of industrial mil.gov swamp-$**t.
The Russians have been on the ‘verge’ of taking Bakhmut for 7 months... And haven’t.
How many soldiers have they lost? How many tanks? How many APC’s? They keep attacking, keep claiming they are on the ‘verge’ and at the end of every day they are still not in control of Bakhmut.
Naval artillery was generally superior to field artillery. So while in theory this would be a good thing the naval guns require a larger and completely different mounting system. I guess you could bolt a shore mount 5” gun to a tracked vehicle if you were desperate enough. It would be a lot heavier. Then you need to supply the semifixed ammo. Good luck.
Ukrainians Blow Bridges Out of Bakhmut, Russian Fighters Now in the Streets
Yes, it’s sad.
The Kremlin promised its western propaganda teams back in December that Bakhmut was about to fall.
Every week that has gone by since has further reduced the credibility of anyone who believed Moscow.
Taking the village has become the #1 priority of the Russian war machine, not because it has any strategic significance, but because it is an ever growing embarrassment for Putin stooges like JonPreston.
It’s sad that thousands of Russian boys have been fed into a meat grinder merely to save a bunch of keyboard warriors from embarassment.
Last I heard, the Russkies was bayonetting Belgian Nuns! And, oh - Putin eats Poop! And they sunk an innocent ocean liner that wasn’t carrying no weapons or guns!
Those Russian fighters have been in the ‘streets’ for 7 months... Getting picked off by Ukrainian snipers.
That’s not control... That’s suicide.
Apparently Putin does poop his pants quite a bit... Smelly Vlad, always the shortest guy in the room and now he wears diapers. That’s leadership.
Russian Assault Units Have Entered BAKHMUT! (December 12, 2022)

Or this:

Will Bakhmut fall? Probably. But be pretty skeptical of any Russian claims of victory.
It was the Russians who used the “Potemkin village” scheme and I often wonder if they are really using their junk and not showing their capabilities maybe
I wonder how that thing does going uphill?
I understand your point, but they aren’t welding 5 inch guns to a b52.
Because THEIR MIC wants excuses to rearm and they can’t do that with all that old inventory hanging around - JUST LIKE THE US.
I don’t believe none of that stuff. In WWII, the OSS(CIA) had some twerp write that Hitler ate poop. And Trump hired Russian tinklers, etc.
The B-52 is no longer used for its original mission, and is worthless over contested skies. Its new mission is as a truck or delivery vehicle for standoff weapons. The virtue of these improvised armored vehicles is that they might be cheaper than a Javelin missile. More like upgunned decoys than actual tactical threats. They cost more to shoot than to build. They may not even have any ammunition. (How much ammunition do you think there is for 80-year old naval guns?)
A T-90 costs several million dollars a copy, a T-72 or T-80 is much more costly than a Javelin. I think the Russians are going to tow these within range of Javelin gunners and get the hell away, and hope for the best. I would not be surprised if the Ukrainians just wheel up a 155mm cannon and punch them with direct fire, acting under the assumption that they pose no threat of return fire. You would not want to get too close to one of them, but they are probably of little real tactical use.
With continual propaganda from around the world, how qualified is your information.
The timeline isn't as important to the victorious Russians as it is to the NATO losers. The important thing is the deNazification of Ukraine is moving ahead as noted by the high pitched squealing of you Neocons.
I'm completely skeptical of any claims from both sides and their allies.
