Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) reintroduced bipartisan legislation that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent and end the tiresome, twice-a-year adjusting of the clocks.
“This ritual of changing time twice a year is stupid,” Rubio said. “Locking the clock has overwhelming bipartisan and popular support. This Congress, I hope that we can finally get it done.”
A previous version of the bill, known as the Sunshine Protection Act of 2023, unanimously passed in the Senate last year but languished in the House of Representatives for months.

Just abolish daylight savings time completely and let things go back to normal.

They do it over an over and it never changes changing!

Is this really needed?
If we can choose our genders, shouldn't we then be able to select our time zones?

I don’t understand how that works? Given that it is warmer in the afternoon/evening than in the morning, wouldn’t it save businesses money by closing up shop with more sunlight hours left in the day (dst) rather than fewer (standard)?

The only legal change I support is getting the federal government entirely out of this issue

I kind of like it the way it is.

I know it’s a different situation in northern states. In northern Alaska, daylight savings time involves fentanyl hibernation all winter, then smoking crystal meth all summer.

I’d rather that standard time be made permanent. I would too but I will take either as long as they stop this stupid cycle.

We did this once back in the 70s. People were unhappy because it was 8am and still dark.

There is no less or more daylight created by moving the hands of a clock around.
All you do is screw over the people who must live in Real Time and Clock Time.
The store and the kid's school runs on clock time and the animals run on real time.

The United Stated tried permanent daylight savings time in 1974-1975, but people didn't like it. In the winter, it was dark too late in the morning. There was morning rush hour traffic and kids were going to school in pitch black darkness.
I remember, I was one of those kids. All of us used to take flashlights, I had one that was like a raygun from a sci-fi movie, we used to play Star Trek or German Spotlight (when the light hits you, you're captured) when we waited for the school bus.
