Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Thursday said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is “not ready for the responsibility he has” and argued his Cabinet position would be better filled by someone else as Buttigieg comes under fire over the recent toxic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
“He’s not ready for the responsibility he has. He was a fine mayor, from what I understand, but the position he’s got really would be better served by a person who’s managed a large enterprise, a state, or something of the scale he’s now dealing with,” Romney said, responding to a question from The Huffington Post on “how Pete Buttigieg is doing.”
After dealing with intense scrutiny over widespread air travel delays and Federal Aviation Administration troubles over the holidays, Buttigieg has now taken hits over the administration’s response to the Ohio derailment.
Last month, 38 Norfolk Southern train cars derailed in East Palestine, several of which were carrying the hazardous cancer-causing chemical vinyl chloride. Residents were temporarily evacuated over concerns of a potential explosion as chemicals burned at the site, and worries linger about the toxic substances left behind.

Hey Mitt - Mayor Pete is a Democrat, not a Republican. Did you really mean to criticize him?
The Peter Principle is strong with them both!
Hello kettle! 🤡
Mitt the mutt is not ready for doggie show. He/she/shemee is a scumbag and should live with bars and guards.
Did Mitt “SLAM” Buttigeg in the buttocks?
At least he doesn’t put his dog on top of a car, Mitt.
No kidding. I guess since he is up for re-election next year he has to sort-of pretend to be a Republican.
Hey, Mitt …
On February 2 of 2021, you voted to confirm this incompetent dope to the position he holds.
You’re an even bigger @sshole than he is.
Is Mittens pinch hitting?
I was trying so hard not to go there, rotfl.
Exactly, Mitt you help put him there, what are you going to do about it now?
Also, why should we ever trust your judgment given you thought Pete was competent in the first place?
He’ll never be ready.
But you also need to look in the mirror, because you supported these goons over Trump. You are also a piece of excrement.
Primary!
Romney really was an outstandingly good governor. I recall when a concrete tile killed a woman in the Ted Williams tunnel. Romney, who did not have legal authority over the project demanded, and got!, the resignation of the manager of the Bid Dig. Romney clearly understood the problem, took charge and remediated the tunnel is a brisk and efficient matter. In general Romney handled people well, outside of this incident.
People like to complain about RINO governors. During the George Floyd riots, our current governor, Maura Healy, who at the time was attorney general said “America is burning but that’s how forests grow.” SMH. Charlie Baker, a true RINO, was governor. There was an illegal, and unpermitted demonstration in Boston City Hall Plaza by BLM at that time, planned for a Saturday. There was no prior announcement in the local news. Baker, who must have gotten word of the demonstration from police intelligence, called up 1,000 National Guard, who surrounded Boston City Hall Plaza in military vehicles. The mostly peaceful demonstration remained almost completely peaceful, the few breaches of the peace were handled by the Boston Police Department, and the George Floyd angel of death passed Boston by.
Gawd help us if Healy had been governor. Even a RINO is better than any Democrat.
You helped put him there Mitt, so shut up and sit down MF.
Cutv Peter Butt some slack ..he is suffering from UK pretend post birth depression.
Cut Peter Butt some slack ..he is suffering from pretend post birth depression.
