PRESS STATEMENT
Nine years ago, Russia invaded Ukraine and seized Crimea – a clear violation of international law and of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The United States welcomes the efforts of Ukraine’s Crimea Platform to focus global attention on Russia’s continued occupation. The United States does not and never will recognize Russia’s purported annexation of the peninsula. Crimea is Ukraine.
Projection on your part but it’s to be expected from Russian supporters.
God will take care of Russia soon enough.
He’ll also take care of America in a like kind manner.
Better be on your knees praying to Him!
Ukraine is fighting to be free from tyrants like Putin and their cultures of corruption.
Your insouciance at the prospect of a nuclear exchange brings to mind “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb”.
Gen. Turgidson: Mr. President, I’m not saying we wouldn’t get our hair mussed, but I do say no more than 10 to 20 million killed, tops! Uh, depending on the breaks.
Ukraine’s culture of corruption is the Soviet culture of corruption. That’s what Ukrainians in charge now are trying to change more than anything else.
There’s corruption here, in the U.S.A., too. But it’s nowhere near as bad as in countries like Russia and its allies.
Some politicos appear to believe that a good way to get votes is to lie to voters in efforts to stir them to hysteria while insulting and threatening any who don’t agree. Looks like a Russian tactic. We’ll see how that works out.
Please go back and reread my comment. I am not calling for a preemptive strike, but only that the idiot in the Kremlin needs to know that the US will retaliate if he does something stupid.
ummm...., which country did you say?
“Russian Army
Commanded by Prince ...”
Quite.
The regiments involved, however, were in large part Ukrainian. Which was my point. Those were likely “Ukrainian guns” at Balaklava.
This is an engineering report on the completion to road repairs for all 4 lanes of Kerch Bridge road traffic dated 1/26/23. It suggests there may still be damage to metal reinforcement in support piers that will need later attention.
This link has an excellent video of burning oil cars on the rail portion of the Kerch Bridge. Seeing this it is easy to understand why the rails may not be ready for heavy traffic until Sept. 2023. Currently ferries are being used for heavy transport from Russia to Crimea on the Kerch Peninsula. In case of a Ukraine Crimea offensive, these very large ferries could be a target of marine assault.
Exactly why is blatant propaganda from the Putin regime being posted here???
I’m not sure Ukraine wants to destroy the bridge. Rather just damage it enough so only light transport can use it. If they attack Crimea they would probably prefer that the civilian population loyal to Russia and escape across it and not stick around to need food, water, and medical care supplied by Ukraine. The big question I have is whether Ukraine has some means of destroying the big ferries if the Russians try to bring in heavy weapons—HIMARS or something sea borne?
First things first: That bridge needs to go. It is not just heavy trucks laden with artillery ammo that bring important military equipment. Smart light weapons, upgraded electronic warfare equipment, and personnel are crossing that bridge. It is time to break some eggs…
If US ATACMS destroys Kerch, that may "provoke" Putin more somehow, as if spending a decade building up to invade, then invading Ukraine was not provocative enough. Russia air defenses and operations around Crimea need to get worn down first. Kerch is operating at significantly reduced capacity, that is good enough for now.
As for destroying the bridge the first time Russia says it was truck bomb, which doesn't make sense since all trucks going over the bridge are searched and x-rayed. One alternative explanation was Ukraine used some kind of seaborne drone to attack the bridge. Except their known sea drones look too small, even if a dozen were used. Despite official explanations or non-explanations, How Kerch really was attacked is still a unanswered question.
Ukraine's sea drones, Neptune anti-ship missiles, and the remaining Bayraktars are why Russia's navy has been locked up in Servastapol. Operator Starsky reported a sizable Russian naval force put to sea yesterday. We will know in a day or two what the current naval situation is.
KERCH BRIDGE Railway—
See the photo above of the burning tank cars that are burning and separated. That Russian train was stalled and not moving. Why was that? Bribery. My take is that separate explosives were pre-placed under the oil tank cars. These explosives went off at the same time as what explosives or missiles destroyed the Kerch roadway bridge for automobiles.
Extreme Ukrainian sabotage along with a British/American intelligence brain trust that stole the Kerch Bridge architectural plans and analyzed them. Or actually the Kerch Bridge architecture is standard Russian but needed to be analyzed for weak spots by the Brits and Americans. The railway bridge was warped and destroyed by the oil tank car fires and the massive under carriage explosives that set them on fire.
