This is an engineering report on the completion to road repairs for all 4 lanes of Kerch Bridge road traffic dated 1/26/23. It suggests there may still be damage to metal reinforcement in support piers that will need later attention.

This link has an excellent video of burning oil cars on the rail portion of the Kerch Bridge. Seeing this it is easy to understand why the rails may not be ready for heavy traffic until Sept. 2023. Currently ferries are being used for heavy transport from Russia to Crimea on the Kerch Peninsula. In case of a Ukraine Crimea offensive, these very large ferries could be a target of marine assault.

Looks like the claims Kerch bridge is running normally were premature. The rail is far more important to Russian logistics than the roadway. And in due time, a potentially inviting target too good to pass up.
