Crimea Is Ukraine
U.S. Department of State ^ | February 26, 2023 | NED PRICE, DEPARTMENT SPOKESPERSON

Posted on 02/26/2023 10:40:21 PM PST by familyop

PRESS STATEMENT

Nine years ago, Russia invaded Ukraine and seized Crimea – a clear violation of international law and of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The United States welcomes the efforts of Ukraine’s Crimea Platform to focus global attention on Russia’s continued occupation. The United States does not and never will recognize Russia’s purported annexation of the peninsula. Crimea is Ukraine.

They are evil Mongols who can’t function in civilized society. The American Ghetto is better at humanity than they are.

Thank you. I always enjoy reading hateful comments from so called Christians. Hypocrisy, that's the right word.

On this one I disagree. Crimea has been and is Russian. If Zelensky would accept this there might be hope Putin’s supporters could get him to accept a compromise. But so much damage has been done to Ukraine it may be impossible to do so.

Your definition of Christianity is Rape and Murder.

Russians do good at that definition.

Thank you!

Your definition of Christianity is Rape and Murder.

I never said that, but I do object to lies and slander on your part. Since you post often about religious topics, I suggest you try and set a good example for others

The military personnel that were training Ukrainian people left the country before the invasion and the Polish cops were volunteer cops doing demining of an area, they were not military, and the foreigners fighting in Ukraine are volunteers, not military personnel of the countries they came from as civilians.

Don’t get carried away.

“the Polish cops were volunteer cops doing demining of an area”

Because every country has their police clearing mines in a combat zone, isn’t that right? Like when the US invaded Normandy in 1944 it was the Chicago PD that cleared the beaches of mines. Right?

Evidently, Poland does.

Don’t go off getting nutty as these pro-Russia guys do.

“The mission started after Ukraine requested the help of bomb disposal experts from the ATLAS network, the association of the police tactical units in Europe.

“The Ukrainian army doesn’t have enough sappers, and military sappers from NATO countries cannot do this because Russia will perceive it as a provocation. The only option was to send police pyrotechnics,” the news outlet said.”

No, Crimea was part of Russia for centuries until the Soviets "gave" it to Ukraine in 1954 when they were all part of the same country.

Most in Crimea are ethnic Russians and never wanted to be part of Ukraine after the Soviet Union ended.

Russia has had a naval base there since 1783. We knew damn well Russia wasn't giving that up when fomented the Maiden revolution and illegally install a government hostile to Russia. That was the beginning of the proxy war in Ukraine. We started.

Please explain how Putin is a model Christian.
His army does exactly as I described.
Several FReep clowns claim his nation and he is Christian.

Do we need to go back to elementary school to review cause and effect?

You must be pretty far gone as a Russian agent if you think the foreign policy of the United States shouldn’t be allowed to be posted on freerepublic.

that’s a real diaper load.
Crimea has been part of russia since 1783
the year before Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown.

Khrushchev gave Crimea to Ukraine in 1954. Russia’s Soviet evil empire was dissolved in 1991. The executive and judicial offices in Crimea were governed by Ukraine until Russia covertly moved its forces into Crimea and illegally annexed it with threat of force in 2014.

Russia wants to keep it, because it’s a strategic military position for further expansion into Europe.

Ukraine is fighting to be free from tyrants like Putin and their cultures of corruption. Interesting that you mentioned Cornwallis and Yorktown in regards to our own revolution against tyranny.

“The Light Brigade charged Ukrainian artillery in the Crimean War, right?”

As it happens - yes, very likely.

I had a look at the Russian OB at Balaclava. Many of the regiments involved were recruited in what is now Ukraine. The Russian army was mostly recruited territorially in those days. Of the regiments involved, cavalry and infantry (about 500-1000 men for cavalry, 1000-1500 for rifle battalions, 2000-3000 for infantry regiments), I count five Ukrainian regiments and nine Russian, including rifle battalions, which might also have been Ukrainian, but I have no information on where they came from. Artillery was also territorially recruited usually in the same garrisons as associated infantry/cavalry brigades.

Russian Army
Commanded by Prince Aleksandr Sergeyevich Menshikov with a total of 25,000 men and 78 guns.

Cavalry - Lt. Gen. I.I. Ryzhov with 3,000 sabres and 16 guns.
Kiev Regiment
Ingermanland Regiment
(No.)1 Ural Cossacks
North Column - Col. A.P. Skiuderi with 4,000 men and 12 guns.
Odessa Regiment
(No.)53 Don Cossacks
(No.)4 Rifle Battalion (1 company)
Left Center Column - Maj. Gen. K.R. Semiakin with 5,000 men and 10 guns.
Azov Regiment
Dnieper Regiment
(No.)4 Rifle Battalion (1 company)
Right Center Column - Maj. Gen. F.G. Levutski with 3,000 men and 8 guns.
Ukraine Regiment
South Column - Maj. Gen. S.I. Gribbe with 3,000 men and 10 guns
Dnieper Regiment
Composite Uhlan Regiment
Ingermanland Regiment
(No.)60 Don Cossacks
Forward Reserves - Maj. Gen. O.P. Zhaboritski with 5,000 men and 10 guns.
Vladimir Regiment
Susdal Regiment
(No.)6 Rifle Battalion
Ingermanland Regiment (two squadrons)
(No.)60 Don Cossacks (two sotnias)
Reserves - total of 2,000 men and 12 guns.
Ukraine Regiment (1 squadron)
(No.)4 Rifle Battalion (1 company)
Composite Uhlan Regiment
