Mexico’s president posted a photo on his social media accounts Saturday showing what he said appeared to be a mythological woodland spirit similar to an elf.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador did not seem to be joking when he posted the photo of an “Aluxe,” a mischievous woodland spirit in Mayan folklore.
López Obrador wrote the photo “was taken three days ago by an engineer, it appears to be an aluxe,” adding “everything is mystical.”

Mexico has no surplus population of Aluxe, due to predatation by Chupacabras.
Ah, yes. It’s so obvious now that you point it out!
It would be nice if somebody posted a daytime photo of the same tree.
Coati, aka ring tail.
Looks like a lizard or a snake to me...
That doesn’t look like any elf I’ve ever seen.
I hate to spoil el presidente’s elf/Aluxe post-but that is obviously a monkey-there is no shortage of monkeys in Mexico...
“Yeah, fairies wear boots and you gotta believe me
Yeah I saw it, I saw it, I tell you no lies
Yeah Fairies wear boots and you gotta believe me I saw it,
I saw it with my own two eyes”
Its a shape-shifting bruja.
Tineye reverse search shows the picture first posted 11/22/2021, so no, BS on the President of Mexico's Imp. First posted on in Indonesia so its probably an orangetan or other ape in a tree.
If anyone wants to get the translation be my guest.

To be clear here, not BS on you, but El Presidente should have some staff to check out Fabulosa like this!
Wasn’t “chupacabra” one of the original Undead Threads?
It’s a monkey.

JPG gives: "Lutun Berdua". This appears to be a Indonesian Gibbon of some sort, perhaps a yellow cheeked gibbon??
Note; Male and female gibbons can have different colors for each of the sexes.

Like those cartel leaders in the north east of Mexico (Gulf Cartel(?) who have immediately appologized for the murder of several Ameerican who entered Mexico a few days ago and were killed by mistake. They were apparently suspected of being invading drug dealers, whereas they were regular tourists and one was there for cosmetic surgery.
The cartel has also turned over 5 men to authorities who they say were responsible for the deaths of the tourists.
Thanks for the ping.
