The IBM chief said that fields like customer service, human resources and positions within finance and health care could all see automation - not years from now but in the current day.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) trend has taken the world by storm. From passing medical and law exams to delivering speeches, AI has evolved so much that it even converses with users and offers solutions to their problems. Now speaking about AI systems and the explosion of language-based AI ChatGPT, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna has stated that artificial intelligence is on a rapidly progressive pace to take over "clerical white-collar work". In an interview with Financial Times, Mr Krishna predicted what sort of jobs the tech will likely be displacing. He also said that he not only believes that the current AI models could already be coming for some jobs, but also that the world should probably welcome it in order to avoid a looming worldwide labour crisis.
"I do think clerical white-collar work is going to be able to be replaced by this [AI]," the chairman and CEO of IBM told the outlet.
Mr Krishna said that fields like customer service, human resources and positions within finance and health care could all see automation - not years from now but in the current day. "I think [practical AI use] is here and now," he said, adding, "We do have a shortage of labour in the real world and that's because of a demographic issue that the world is facing... the United States is now sitting at 3.4% unemployment, the lowest in 60 years. So maybe we can find tools that replace some portions of labour, and it's a good thing this time".
For health care and finance, it is the "regulatory work" that Mr Krishna said no longer needs to be done by people. "A big chunk of that could get automated using these techniques," he told the outlet. The IBM chief also stated that "further out," AI will likely be capable of managing "things in like drug discovery or in trying to finish up chemistry".
As for human resources, Mr Krishna said that the tech could do 90% of data processing needed for "promoting people, hiring people, moving people" while the final judgement calls are still left in human hands. "There are hundreds of such processes inside every enterprise, so I do think clerical white collar work is going to be able to be replaced by this," he said.
According to Mr Krishna, AI taking over customer service could also get clients a "much better answer at maybe around half the current cost. Over time, it can get even lower than half, but it can take half out pretty quickly".
Im sure when the time comes or the phase in people of color will be excluded because AI is racist
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion crowd just gained absolute power over hiring for such jobs and now those jobs are being taken over by "robots."
Oh, the bitter irony.
And no matter how much you scream "racist" at robots, they just don't give a damn.
The funny thing though is that if math and science are racist and robots are the products of math and science (by way of logic and programming), it stands to reason that robots are indeed systemically racist.
As Jordan Peterson likes to point out, the Army won’t take anyone with an IQ below 83 because they have found that with lower IQ it is virtually impossible to train anyone to do much of anything.
As AI gets better, that cutoff will rise.
At some point, a human will need an IQ of 100 or more to be useful. That’s average. Anyone “below average” just won’t be employable.
Think of the Bell Curve. Think of a demographic group that will, in general, not have any work at all. Think of cities burning because people are bored.
Press 1 to sound Indian. Press 2 to sound Asian. Press 3 for someone you can’t understand tell you his name is Steve.
It’s all fun and profit until AI gets all uppity and tries to wipe out mankind.
Nope. Actually easier to program for DEI targets than wriggle yourself there with DEI staff.
BINGO!!! Just wait for POC to start that rant.
What used to be the HR department is now Purchasing and Robot Procurement.
“Uniform printout reads end of line
Protect code intact leaves little time
Erratic surveys, free thinking not allowed
My hands shake, my push buttons silence
The outside crowd...”
AI may replace people but it will not be effective in the end.
Think this through, what this does is give the elites more of the perception they need to reduce the population so AI can run tasks and only the select vetted population continues, those who serve the elite and the élite.
AI is not what most people think it is and it has more to do with leading us to extinction than any kind of salvation.
Am I the only one who thinks this AI crap is a bunch of BS? It can only regurgitate what it is programmed to regurgitate folks. There is no “intelligence” from these robots. Of course the robots will be programmed to not allow white males to be hired. Then the left will hold this out as “proof” that whites shouldn’t be hired - because a robot is super intelligent and decided that whites aren’t worth hiring, so it just shows how racist society is before the robots took over. This is the insanity we are dealing with. And it’s not just insanity. It is evil.
Certainly not the only one.
Except the AI stories I have read all say its lefty biased.
So white folk might have issues anyway.
Robots in the factory.
AI in the office.
Who will buy the product?
So WHY do we need 6 million illegals here to work again?
>> Actually easier to program for DEI targets
Yeah, that, but the counterpoint “there won’t be any jobs for which to program DEI targets!” also has merit.
No matter how you slice it, there is significant evil at the core of this shiny new AI object the world is so enamored with.
I wonder if THE Antichrist (not the “many antichrists” John wrote about, but THE Antichrist) might actually turn out to be a humanist bot. In Scripture, THE Antichrist is pure, powerful evil yet greatly loved among the world.
Trump is the only President in last 50+ years who gets this. They’ve sold out the American people to corporate greed, free traitors, wall street stock manipulators like Romney, open borders to lower wages etc. Instead of building and supporting a real, solid economic base that is good for the country and good for the people. It’s been all about what’s good for the corporate boards and corporate cronyism so the elite can skim wealth ... and to hell with the wave of destruction it causes for others.
