The UK government announced that the country will observe a moment of silence to honour the Ukrainians and demonstrate Britain’s “solidarity” with the war effort against Russia.
In a move reminiscent of the “clap for carers” initiative during the Chinese coronavirus crisis to celebrate healthcare workers and even the annual Armistice Day commemoration remembering the huge sacrifice of the British and Empire in two worlds wars, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s government has announced that there will be a “national moment” of silence on February 24th. The silence late this month marks the one-year anniversary since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.

I wonder what Churchill would think of today’s UK government showing solidarity with a nation that has perhaps the highest percentage of Nazi supporters.
“Please clap” Jeb
There’s certain words or terminology that’s used to indicate levels of wokeness....Solidarity is one of those words.
It might make the Russophiles on Free Republic examine the fallacies in their thinking
Why would we want to get an STD to honor Ukraine?
Time to buy air horns.
It's one thing if a private group wants to this, but for the Government to organize this is disgusting.
To many on this forum, they would like a moment of silence to honor the Russian dead.
But the Russian dead get a white Lada and a fur coat. Its almost worth dying for the Motherland.
Intimidation
I would get a giant airhorn and blair it through the streets.
Hahaha England is too scared to say “pray for Ukraine” or “pray for peace” because they might offend some atheists
I would argue that there are tons of Pakis they don’t want to offend the Moslem riff raff.
Ukraine vs Russia is not our circus. Not one more cent to the vile, gay-dancing little grifter and his equally vile, grifting cronies in the West and beyond.
That’s probably true.
What are you talking about?
The vast majority of Ukrainians are anti-Nazi because Ukraine was ravaged by Nazis in WW2. Asking if Ukrainians are Nazis indicates a desire to label an entire nation. The easiest way to debunk such craziness is to ask yourself if a Nazi nation of would elect a Jewish president? Zelensky was elected by 70% of the vote in Ukraine. This doesn’t get much attention in Russia because the Putin narrative has been vilifying Ukrainians as a bunch Nazis and gangsters since 2014.
The far right party got less than 1% in the last elections, not surprisingly, and have no representation in Parliament.
However, the Ukrainian President is Jewish. Not something that regularly happens in a country where Nazism is prominent, you know. And possibly the real reason why Russia wants to destroy the country; Russia has historically been well known for its Anti-Semitism.
Tries to cover up that the UK is still importing Russian energy...?
Whatever.
It’s still a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.
Amen to that.
Anyone starting to feel like we're reliving the 1910s...?
