Anewly published federal rule could soon make felons of hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Americans and violate the U.S. Constitution. The Biden administration claims adding a pistol brace to an otherwise legal pistol suddenly transforms it into an unlawful “short-barreled rifle.”
A poorly argued DMN editorial claims the ATF’s pistol brace rule “is common sense.”
But as Albert Einstein pointed out, in many cases common sense is “nothing more than a deposit of prejudices laid down in the mind before you reach eighteen.”

My state refuses to enforce this
“Shall not be infringed’”
That’s good enough for me
Just cut everyone’s hands off, then they can’t use weapons.
Albert was a very smart man. People are propagandized so much before they are 18 that no matter what they were taught, humans will believe whatever they were taught as a child.
Well, there’s your common sense, right there. A right to arms doesn’t mean a right to hands.
The right to infringe shall not be limited. /s
The real mystery is why the hoplophobes believe short-barreled rifles are inherently evil in the first place. After all, the net effect is that it’s less lethal than a ‘regular’ rifle owing to the lower muzzle velocity but the shoulder-mounting by means of a stock (or brace) also makes it capable of better precision than a handgun fired “off-hand.” Which means an SBR presents less of a chance you’ll accidentally shoot something you didn’t mean to than if you were shooting off-hand.
And they’re simply NOT as concealable as a handgun (without a stock or brace), so it beggars belief that people would buy into any claim that SBRs or pistol-caliber carbines or large-format handguns with a brace would somehow present a greater public danger than either a well more concealable but less-precise stockless handgun or a far more potentially lethal rifle.
There’s no logic to it at all. Unless you accept that it’s just another hoplophobe effort restrict firearm ownership by any means available.
By common sense I hope he means no laws against them.
Yep.
So, pistol braces are legal, under federal law IF you register them and pay the $200 TAX.
How is it possible for the BATFE to levy a tax?
I thought that was Congress’s job.
