A U.S. F-22 fighter jet shot down an unidentified object over Canada on Saturday, the second such shootdown in as many days, as North America appeared on heightened alert following a week-long Chinese spying balloon saga that drew the global spotlight.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the shootdown on Twitter and said it took place over the Yukon territory in the country's north. He said Canadian forces would recover and analyze the wreckage from the object.

No joke. Our inability to detect these balloons is a serious national security threat. The fact that they had to go back to the records to figure out there were three incursions during the Trump Administration is lunacy. How far back did they go? To the Obama/Biden Administration?

In real term China most likely has a solid grip on our WH and most of our Congress. Why isn't Canada throwing a hissy fit about US conducting military shoot-downs over their country?
On the bright side we almost certainly already know everything of value about the "balloons"
Canada needs to see China get bitch-slapped in a way that has enormous internal Chinese political consequences, and we need to be prepared to step in and help its new government sort things out.

Sounds like they shot down one of those Tic-Tac UAPs that the F-18 Super Hornet pilots from the USS Nimitz tangled with several years ago. They said it had no visible propulsion systems.

When was the last time the US had an operational fighter aircraft that was NOT a jet? The P51 (F51) Mustang was withdrawn from ANG service in 1957 ...
No other countries have the F-22.
I have seen that question several times; wish I could ping everyone that asked.
The CF18 Hornet has a service ceiling of 50,000 ft.
The F22 Raptor has a publicly announced service ceiling of 65,000 ft.
That should be sufficient answer to your question.
