Nothing about that picture surprises me.
From the headline it may look like there is a video at the link of Fudge calling for forced something-or-other. But there is not. It’s just some old guy talking about some press release and making huge leaps about what HUD intends to do. Everybody’s a journalist these days.
Let’s start by diversifying the wealthy elite neighborhoods like Martha’s Vineyard first. Stick some low income housing next door to one of Obama’s mansions. You just know that will never happen.
When I was in the Marines, way back in the early 70’s, we lived in open squad bays at that time, not individual rooms like they have now.
We didn’t have assigned bunks, so everybody just bunked at whatever part of the squad bay they felt like.
All the blacks stayed at one end and the whites at the other, self-segregating.
Everybody got along fine...............

No thanks. I have lived in a “diverse” area and moved away for that very reason. People are only excluded from areas by the price of housing. Otherwise anyone may live anywhere. They are looking for problems that don’t exist.

Or a Dept of Education, HHS, Homeland Security, Transportation, Labor, etc. Need to get back to basics as to what a national government is responsible for, not state and local.

I have seen what this looks like up close and there is no way I would want to live like that.
Why just this morning they found a poor soul disemboweled on the street. No one wants to live in an area like that or have their own nice place turning into THAT.
How about instead, you invest in cleaning up your own ‘hood.’

I have clients that initially move into these upscaled historic homes and quickly (18 months later), find a home in the suburbs. Scares the heck out of me to even go down there. Pockets of nice areas, nice street and slums the next street over. NO Thank You.

Excellent idea. Some of the most non-integrated neighborhoods in the country are in those blue cities where the elites live in splendor in high priced housing overlooking the peasants they rule.
I’m not too clear on the concept of how it would be done. Possibly identifying the rich elites by income and requiring them to take in boarders from the ghettos? Trying to subsidize ghetto dwellers into luxury condos or apartments would be extremely expensive when you could just use the police power of the State to move folks out or move other folks in.
