MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A recent poll of Alabama Republican Primary voters shows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis leading former President Donald Trump by almost 20 points in a hypothetical matchup for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.

A full 50% of those surveyed said they would either definitely or probably vote for DeSantis, while just 31% said they would definitely or probably vote for Trump. Among those who remain undecided, 3% lean toward DeSantis, 4% lean toward Trump and 9% are firmly unsure.

desantis never announced he’s running for president...

desantis released a statement 2 weeks ago instructing people not to donate any money to any organization that claims he’s running for president in 2024...

desantis can’t legally run for president until he resigns as governor...

Interesting, HM my good FRiend, and it's true.

That said, I saw one headline suggesting that the Fl legislature might change the law.

Certainly a developing story.

trump started this...

DeSantis supporters started this yesterday criticizing Trump's association with Graham.

Trump RESPONDED by pointing out to these DeSantis supporters that DeSantis wants to be like Paul Ryan.

Welcome back after being absent for a while. Many anti-Trump fanatics come out of hibernation right before and election. The useless GOPe needs all the help it can get.

DeSantis over any Democrat communist and Trump over DeSantis every day of the week.

I have a very emotional attachment to the ethical mandate that the treachery of the Democrat party and its co-conspirators in the government should not be permitted to prevail and I am willing to run some real risks of actually losing the election to uphold the principle of equal justice.

I will never not defend Trump from the onslaught of lies that were promulgated against him during the Russia hoax. And I will be forever grateful for Trump exposing the mainstream media propagandists for the lying bastards that they are.

None of that alters a basic fact: Trump is the best get-out-the-vote program for Democrats there is and he is toxic to a wide swath of independent voters. He is incapable of getting out of his own way and has a demonstrated record of reckless, destructive personnel decisions. I have never seen the left and the deep state advance culturally and politically as they did during Trump Administration. And now the argument is he is uniquely situated to counter them?

If you look at some of the never-Trump grifters on Twitter like the Lincoln Project Pedos, they are actively pulling for him over de Santis for the nomination. He is almost certainly not going to win the general election. How can anyone argue that essentially giving them what they want is teaching them a lesson? How can it be anything other than completely self-destructive on our part?

Trump is constitutionally incapable of admitting he was wrong

He is almost certainly not going to win the general election.

Trump won in '16 and without cheating in the 5 swing states, he would have won in '20.

Unless you by into the media narrative, that Biden won in '20 fair and square?

I will never not defend Trump from the onslaught of lies that were promulgated against him during the Russia hoax. And I will be forever grateful for Trump exposing the mainstream media propagandists for the lying bastards that they are.

Yup, you believe the "onslaught of lies" by the same "lying bastards", that tell you that Trump lost.

I don’t know anyone that feels DeSantis would be turning his back on the people of Florida if he runs for POTUS, myself included.

Only thing I’ve ever heard is we’d hate to lose him as governor and best of luck with his run for president.....also, myself included.

You didn't answer my question. Do you trust DeSantis to work for the people & this country like Trump did? Can you guarantee that?

I certainly couldn't guarantee that back when I voted for Trump in 2016, but I know that Trump was a man who does what he says, by 2020.

I respect your admiration for, and loyalty to, DJT.

If he wins the nom, I'll join you in voting for him.

I suspect, however, that the nomination is lost to him.

My circle of friends and relatives, mostly Conservatives and Trump voters in both of the last two elections, don't want Trump to even run again. (I know, he already is.)

Yes, Trump accomplished many good things, I can name more than a dozen. He also made many political foes along the way that was just not necessary.

Both DeSantis and Pompeo are strong leaders, pro-American, and have the Reaganesque quality of tact, diplomacy, and statesmanship. Mister Trump could learn from both of them.

I also feel strongly that Veterans make better presidents (more rounded, more responsible). Both Pompeo and DeSantis served honorably.

It might be useful to keep in mind that the electorate has changed from '16 and '20. Many traditional conservatives in the bonus years have sadly passed, and many of the younger replacements are not familiar with Trump's successes, only his non-stop petulant comments. Trump hurts himself in this demo.

In a marriage, it is important how you spat.

If a problem comes up, address that one problem. Do not
ever branch out into a discussion covering all your
relationship weaknesses. It’s destructive!

That same dynamic comes into play in political races.

Trying to win the nomination, each player will try to
denigrate the other. After a while, all you’ve
accomplished is causing anyone that is watching to
toss up their hands and say, “It has come to the
point I can’t stand either of these people.”

That is why I wish DeSantis would wait until 2028.

Hey, he’s got every right to do what he wants, but
get ready for the two leading candidates to turn
voters off something fierce.

It’s literally impossible for them to stay positive
in this sort of process. The grownups should realize
this.

Trump governed well during his last term. I think
the guy should return. Others will want new blood,
but I think Trump’s grasp of economics and the true
problems facing our nation lead me to believe he
would be the best for now.

That doesn’t take a thing about from DeSantis.

I want him to have two terms directly after Trump.

Maybe Lake to follow, maybe not. We’ll see what
she does from here.
