I don't think the GOPe sees DeSantis as one of their own but as the best tool to take out Trump. Their never-Trump leanings take precedent over every thing else for the GOPe mob.

It's fine with me if you endorse Trump, I won't call you names or suggest that you are a bad person. If Trump wins the nom, I'll support and vote (early, of course) for the gentleman.
I do, however, strongly suspect that Trump will not win our nomination, and that either DeSantis or Pompeo will carry the team.
