Armed crooks rob 13 victims in three NYC boroughs in crazed two-hour blitz: ‘In 24 hours I’ll be out on bail’

A pair of gun-toting bandits robbed 13 people in three boroughs during a wild two-hour crime spree early Tuesday — only to crash their minivan as they were about to raid a fourth borough, police said.

One of the suspects boasted he’d be back on the streets in no time when he was arrested at the crash scene Tuesday morning.

“In 24 hours I’ll be out on bail,” he vowed as he was put into a police cruiser in handcuffs, according to Fox 5 News.

His accomplice, believed to be 24, was nabbed a short time after, cops said.

A gun, which was brandished during the robberies, was recovered by cops from the minivan’s glove box.

New York’s bail laws have been highly controversial since the Democratic-led Legislature approved an overhaul in 2019 that limited pretrial detention for most nonviolent crimes and ordered judges to impose only the “least restrictive” means of ensuring defendants return for court.

The crime spree began in Queens just before 1 a.m. when the robbers rolled up in their white Toyota minivan and robbed two women on Alstyne Ave. near 104th St. in Corona, getting away with two cell phones and a necklace, cops said.

A short time later, the duo surfaced at the Woodside Motel on Queens Blvd. near 65th St., where they robbed two people of their cash and cell phone, police said.

The crooks then drove to Brooklyn, where they held up a man on North 11th St. and Wythe Ave. in Greenpoint at 1:45 a.m. before going back to Queens, where they held up six people at an outdoor dining shed near 72nd St. and Broadway in Jackson Heights about 20 minutes later, cops said.

A lot of people think three strikes was unfair.

Is this fair?

Send these pecker-heads to maximum security.

Arm them. Let them thin the herd inside.

They want to turn our world into hell. Give them hell.

Given this is NYC, he may be correct. But hey NYC, you voted for this.

Same thing went through my mind.

Citizens have to step in when the justice system fails.

I think a gun is the no-no that allows a judge to set bail. Machetes, clubs and brass knuckles are probably legitimate tools of the trade.

I’m guessing that none of the victims hold advanced degrees in critical theory, or anything else.

That defiant boast shows they know what they are doing.

Like the juvenile offenders who tell cops the laws on time for holding them and transfers and the rest.

Plus the exact dollar amount of stealing that stays under the threshold in some woke jurisdictions.

And even the illegal marijuana plants growing at the local Korean owned nail salon in the discount supermarket near here——one plant below the threshold of felony grower.

Arrogant offenders.

Oh, no. 😪
That means he’s black. There was just one yesterday in the crime news and three the day before. Hope this doesn’t mean a trend. After Obama tried so hard to get us into the post racial America.😔

Good point. The irony is that within about 10 feet, a blade wielded by a skilled/trained person can be more deadly than a firearm. Of course the main stream media would then call the blade an “AR style assault blade” even if it was a 3 1/2 inch folding knife.

“Gov. Hochul has said she wants to tweak the bail reform laws to give judges more leeway to impose bail.”

The proper course of action would be to outright repeal these bail reform laws in their entirety. Tweaking them will do nothing.

Hochul has made it clear that she supports these ridiculous, disastrous laws and has no intention of allowing them to be repealed. Her calls for “tweaking” is nothing but politician-speak for “I will not lift a finger to change, much less repeal these laws.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul doubles down on keeping bail reform laws as is, says DA, judges, “Do your job”
