In the wake of a shooting between Antifa terrorists and law enforcement at the site of a future public safety training facility and domestic terrorist activity in downtown Atlanta, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-Ga.) declared a 15-day state of emergency that allows him to call up the National Guard to deal with these out-of-town insurgents if need be.
Kemp wrote in his five-page executive order:
WHEREAS: In consultation with public safety officials and emergency preparedness officials, I have determined that the following actions are necessary and appropriate to protect public peace and provide for the safety and welfare of Georgia’s citizens, visitors, and property.
NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AFOREMENTIONED GEORGIA LAW, CODE SECTION 38-3-51, CODE SECTION 45-12-29, AND THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
ORDERED: That because of unlawful assemblage, violence, overt threats of violence, disruption of the peace and tranquility of this state and danger existing to persons and property, a State of Emergency is declared in the State of Georgia.
The order comes as tensions could ratchet back up this weekend after five Memphis police officers face murder charges in the beating death of a suspect.
“The continued anti-police movement in Atlanta could also be further enflamed by the charging of five former Memphis police officers with second-degree murder and other crimes in the arrest and death of Tyre Nichols, a Black motorist who died three days after a traffic stop confrontation,” reports Fox 5. “Body camera video of the incident is expected to be released on Friday evening.”

The riots happened in Atlanta, too. The mayor back then, Bottoms, allowed it to happen. Even encouraged her own sone to participate.
At the time, it was said that the GBI had identified the ONE person that was bailing out everyone that was arrested. No action was taken on any information to include who dropped off the brick pallets, who paid for the buses, who paid for the hotel rooms and other expenses.
Kemp was the Governor at that time. He had full authority to pre-empt anything Bottoms said or did. There were numerous jurisdictions that showed up to help Atlanta PD. They all went home after Rashard Brooks was shot and killed by APD and the officers were fired for doing their jobs.
A state of emergency isn’t appropriate, at this time as nothing has happened. However, that does not prevent Kemp or anyone else from planning contingency operations, one does not have to make a big deal about it, nor make some unnecessary public declaration.

This was absolutely true. More specifically, there was a big riot the last Friday in May of 2020 about the RB shooting. CNN HQ downtown was vandalized, the Target at Sidney Marcus Blvd. in Buckhead was looted such that it was out of commission for more than a month, several other major events. When it was obvious after that event that Fulton DA at the time Paul Howard was more interested in charging cops than criminals, ALL the suburban jurisdictions made it policy to no long render mutual aid to City of Atlanta. This included those with black leadership, not just the white suburbs. I heard this directly from the chief of my suburban jurisdiction.
Imagine if the NFL held that playoff game in ATL this weekend.
Part of these emergency powers ought to include finding the financiers, sugar daddies and semi-legal mob bosses (professors, government union leaders, Leftist whack jobs) of Antifa, arresting and jailing them, setting high bail and charging them with RICO violations.
Terrorists in the state is an emergency.

I think he looked around, saw that the public was upset over shooting a cop and finding out-of-state rioters with explosives, and decided this would be popular and make people think less often about how he screwed up the 2020 election and previous riots.
