Vice President Mike Pence informed Congress Tuesday that he discovered documents bearing classified markings in his Carmel, Indiana, home on Jan. 16 from his time as vice president.
Following the revelations that classified documents from President Biden's tenure as vice president were found at the Penn Biden Center think tank and Wilmington, Delaware, the vice president's team conducted searches of Pence's Indiana home and political advocacy group, Advancing American Freedom, office.
According to his team, Pence informed the National Archives on Jan. 18 of a small number of potential classified documents found in two small boxes. Another two boxes contained copies of vice presidential papers. The National Archives then informed the FBI per standard procedure.
Pence attorney Greg Jacob wrote on Jan. 18 Acting Director Kate Dillon McClure of the White House Liaison Division National Archives and Records Administration to inform her of the papers "containing classified markings."
After the documents with classified markings were discovered, they were immediately put into a safe, according to the Pence team.
The documents were collected by the FBI at Pence's home in Carmel, Indiana, on Thursday evening, Jan. 19. Pence was in Washington, D.C. for the annual March for Life when the FBI collected the documents.

I am in no way surprised these people have old documents in their possession. The one’s that matter are the one’s with current intel.

The only person who cares is those that would use it politically against you, so why had them the mud to fling? Poop happens, the only thing this seems to benefit is Biden and why would he want to release pressure on that idiot?

Well, the National Archives says that they’re the custodians of all of Obama’s documents (they control the warehouse). HOWEVER, it would seem that the protocols for tracking these documents is so bad that I don’t think anyone can have any faith in any of it anymore.

IIRC, the search warrant was executed AFTER PDJT (or his lawyers, rather) signed some statement saying that they didn’t have anything else—which could mean a prosecution for obstruction (rather than actual possession)
I wouldn’t put it past this DOJ.

WHETHER OR NOT they were subsequently re-marked in accordance with his declassification.

No one is saying what level. Confidential as such requires no background checks for reader or handler. A ships Plan of the Day, a rating/MOS training manual, Sit_Reps of machinery etc, and other such communications. Secret and Top Secret are the biggies in classified material. Oh and the two highest are encryted. You're not just gonna pick it up and read it.

Excuse me, all I did was Confidential at a major shipyard, and that was a pain. What do you mean, no background check?
We all had locked cabinets we had to unlock and r e lock just getting something out. We had to be with the document at all times if not locked up. If passing for signatures, had to be passed to the proper segways if not the signatory himself.
My Secret plant did not actually require me ever to do any of that…I was cleared, but not required to do such work. My dad was TS same plant but he had actual classified to do.
Remember when they found Hillarys maid had classified documents? Everyone has classified documents
