A former top FBI official in New York has been arrested over his ties to a Russian oligarch, law enforcement sources told ABC News Monday.
Charles McGonigal, who was the special agent in charge of counterintelligence in the FBI's New York Field Office, is under arrest over his ties to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire who has been sanctioned by the United States and criminally charged last year with violating those sanctions.
McGonigal retired from the FBI in 2018. He was arrested Saturday afternoon after he arrived at JFK Airport following travel in Sri Lanka, the sources said.

I thought this was the same agent that told the NYTimes that there was no evidence of Russian Collusion a week before the 2016 election. the one that helped trump?

McCain was a foul ball with most of his foreign alliances.
As far as Russian Oligarchs, what I've learned is they are like European Oligarchs, or Chinese Oligarchs, or Middle Eastern Oligarchs, or American Oligarchs, their loyalties shift as fast as the global economic situations, and they always are loyal to their own pockets first.
I no longer trust ANY media to properly apply a national identifier to the derogatory "Oligarch".
As an example: I note that the Hungarian Oligarch, George Soros is staying out of the news lately, however the American Philanthropist George Soros, is not.
One man's Philanthropist is another mans, Oligarch.
