LA Sheriff: California Shooting Suspect Used ‘Semiautomatic Assault Pistol’

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna gave a press conference Sunday in which he announced the Lunar New Year celebration shooting suspect had allegedly used a “semiautomatic assault pistol” to shoot and kill ten people Saturday night.

If that is the case, then it's NOT a "semiautomatic." It is a full automatic, and those are already highly regulated.

There's no such thing as an "assault pistol". Nor is there any such thing as an "assault weapon". There are assault rifles. They are BY DEFINITION capable of fully automatic fire. If a rifle is not capable of fully automatic fire it is NOT AN ASSAULT RIFLE.
