Researchers used advanced computer modeling to simulate a nuclear explosion They wanted to see how an intercontinental ballistic missile would impact the buildings Windows, corridors, and doors are the places to avoid while taking shelter

I have been ranting for years that the cops and firemen are not the “First Responders.” Your neighbors are.
That’s the one! That’s where I saw that!
Who wants to die of starvation or radiation sickness in the months after a nuclear blast? Better to disappear in an instant.
Blunt force trauma due to the wooden structures blowing away by the initial blast wave.
Fire due to all the resulting debris igniting and finishing off the wounded.
LOLOL!!! nope...
LOL I was assuming this would give geographic locations. Nuclear Attacks being applicable to the old horseshoes and handgrenades axiom.
The ufos could reveal themselves and save us
You are so correct.
There is a drumbeat about nuclear war.
I miss the wise freepers who could talk about Russia intelligently.
yes it was... ahh yes, steam tunnels
I guess stop drop and roll is out.
What about tuck and roll?
I remember getting under desks...but we had earthquakes that were more prevalent
This is, of course, unless you have a wooden school desk to hide under.
In that case, you are fully protected!
The best way to avoid a nuke attack is to drag down and roflstomp the idiots and scumbags trying to start a nuke war.
I was in GITMO during those days. We never did those drills.
ME! I cannot stand the thought of giving up without a fight to the bitter and even horrible end.
Wander aimlessly in the green glass desert until you find it. No thanks. Trust no one and assist yourself.
i never had that problem...
Awww, aren’t they cute?!
I was about their age and living in New Orleans during the Cuban missile crisis. Everyone painted a cheery smile but even my young ears could decipher the quiet talk amongst the elders. There might be some, living somewhere, that would survive “the bomb” - but it wouldn’t be us.
We did survive, because the unthinkable didn’t come to pass. But the attitude, the perspective stuck with me.
Years later here I am, living in the Pacific Northwest....just miles down the road from the Bremerton Naval Base. Where they keep all the nuclear submarines. If push comes to shove it is a must-destroy target and we will be incinerated right along with them.
So be it - I’m too old to go climbing under desks anyhow.

Whats with all the lazy fatalists on this thread. You can live through all but a direct hit (and near proximity) with even rudimentary preparation.
Fallout will require you to cool your jets some place to let the radioactivity to fade for a couple of weeks.
Then you can decide if you want to live or die on your terms.
our missile defense tech is LIGHTYEARS beyond anything Russia could even dream of.
space lasers are real, I have relatives that have been working on them for years.
