Former President Trump holds at 17-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a hypothetical GOP primary match-up, according to a new poll.

A Morning Consult poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support among potential Republican primary voters, followed by DeSantis with 31 percent. Trump’s front-runner position differs from some polls since the November midterm elections, which have shown DeSantis closing the gap with Trump or taking a lead in some cases.

Trump wipes out DeSantis in this new poll. Could people be waking up to DeSantis cuddling with big time DC insider donors?

Irrespective of any pros or cons with that, it is way too early for such predictions to have merit. The unknowns of future events over the next year dictate a political bet made today cannot be “taken to the bank”.

Even true, Trump is not going to win the general election in 2024. Keep that in mind.

(Even true, Trump is not going to win the general election in 2024.)

Based on specifically why?

He may, but these early polls, while fun, are meaningless.

Based on specifically why?

You must be in a red bubble. If Trump runs again, he'll probably lose North Carolina.

Looks like they talked to "potential Republican primary voters" - guess that could be about anybody, at least in States with open primaries. Who knows? This kind of poll results, this early, might buy you a cup of coffee, if you add a couple of dollar bills or a bunch of loose change...

What’s a “potential Republican primary voter”?

**********

The best ticket for the Republican Party for 2024, as of today January 18, 2023 is:

Trump/DeSantis 2024

Trump would have to change his residency to a property in New York or New Jersey.

DeSantis would need some guarantees, such as getting to pick some Cabinet members because Trump can only do four years because of the 22nd Amendment.

Also, DeSantis could ask for a mutual tweet arrangement, where Trump doesn’t send tweets out without both finding agreement.

Being form Penn, you need to watch what the hell you say.

Fact is, no people from any other state would vote for two absolute retards like you have in that state.

Interestingly, there’s another thread where Biden beats Trump but loses to DeSantis. .

Seems like the rock/scissors game:
Biden beats Trump.
Trump beats DeSantis.
DeSantis beats Biden.

The best outcome is DeSantis.

The August '22 Morning Consult Poll had Trump beating DeSantis by 58% to 17%.

What happened?

Great, let’s just hand the White House, Senate, and House to the Democrats for a few more years.

Maybe most aren’t paying attention right now. And this “ big time DC insider donors” BS is stupid! Do you think Trump ran on his own money? Seriously?

Trump will lose Arizona in the general. I’ll vote for him in a GENERAL election, but he’ll lose. It won’t be close. This isn’t 2016.
