FOX News personality Geraldo Rivera backed President Biden’s push for an “assault weapons” ban and said that the “AR” in AR-15 stands for “automatic rifle” on Tuesday’s The Five.
Newsweek quoted Rivera telling the co-hosts, “I submit to you, ladies and gentlemen, there is no legitimate reason … to have an AR-15.”
He described the AR-15 as a “machine gun” that people own in order to make them feel “macho.”

As far as I ever understood select fire, it is: semi-auto (one trigger pull one projectile), 3 shot burst, and finally full auto. These require a huge sum of money to purchase and own because of the tax stamp (again, if I recall correctly about 10 grand), a massively long wait for a government colonoscopy and potential OK to purchase, then the actual purchase of said rare weapon that will cost a boatload of money also.

Yes, he refuted it. But he did not know what AR meant. And he didn’t refute the biggest falsehood that the AR is NOT an automatic rifle.

It stands for Armalite Rifle - look it up. Here's an ArmaLite AR-9...
...and it's a shotgun, not an "automatic rifle" or an "ArmaLite rifle".
And then there's the ArmaLite AR-17...
...which is also a shotgun, and also not an "automatic rifle" or an "ArmaLite rifle".
But this is one of my favorites - the ArmaLite AR-24...
..so what do you think - does AR really stand "for Armalite Rifle"?

The AR is available in 9mm?
Cool. I have a Ruger PC-9. 9mm carbine. Good weapon for coyote hunting.

In the context of the article and Whorealdo’s comments the AR in AR-15 most definitely stands for ArmaLite Rifle.
That you can find nits to pick is your prerogative, though it is also anally retentive and pedantic.

And it's your prerogative to remain ignorant, create your own definitions, and ignore historical fact. But the old saying still holds true: "You can't fix stupid!"

They are all ready educated.
Anything they hear differently is gonna be labeled dis-information or AR denial.
