Former President Donald Trump has dismissed claims that COVID-19 vaccines are broadly unsafe while asserting that his own role in the development of the vaccines may have saved 100 million lives.
Trump touted the effectiveness of Operation Warp Speed, his administration's program to accelerate the development of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics, during a Monday interview on the conservative podcast The Water Cooler.
Host David Brody asked the former president if he would "acknowledge" that the vaccines "were not as safe or effective as we were told....
"I was able to get something approved that, you know, that has proven to have saved a lot of lives," Trump said, ignoring Brody's request to weigh in on the anti-vaccine narrative. "Some people say that I saved 100 million lives worldwide."
Trump touted the speed of vaccine development under his program, saying that he was "able to get [the vaccines] done in nine months...."
..."You have to understand, there are the pros and cons," said Trump. "Some reports [say] that it's the greatest thing that's ever happened and we saved tens of millions of lives. Then you'll read other reports [that] say there were some problems with the vaccine...but relatively small numbers....

Here’s a new article with a better transcription of the exact exchange between Brody and Trump. And despite your insistence, he clearly does attempt to avoid the question regarding the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. I was so much of an attempt to divert the discussion, he even goes so far as trying to insert the lie that he himself was not the original source of the lockdowns.
“Look, I know you take credit for getting the vaccine to the American people in record time. I got that. Will you acknowledge now, though, that the Covid-19 vaccines were not as safer, effective as we were told by the medical community at the time?” asked Brody, who is also a regular on the Christian Broadcast Network.
“Well, what I did is, first of all, there were no mandates with me, and I had absolutely no mandates,” Trump replied. “And the governors were allowed to do what they want the most. Most Republican governors did the right thing and most Democrat governors did. You know, with the lockdowns and all the other things they did, including their views of the vaccine, what I did, I was able to get something approved that has proven to save a lot of lives.”
“Some people say I saved 100 million lives worldwide, but I was able to get that done in nine months versus five years to twelve years if it ever got [done at all]. I got the FDA to do things that they it it was pretty amazing what we were able to do,” Trump continued, defending his vaccine approval process.
“But as far as using it, as far as utilization, I never demanded that anybody use it. I never had a mandate. And I think that’s very important to know. And I never had anybody for instance, when I said, you know, I never said close up, I never said we’re going to close our country,” Trump added.
“A lot of Republicans, Florida did close for a period of time, as you know. But a lot of states, a lot of states run by Republican governors didn’t close at all. And that was okay with me and I let them make that decision,” Trump continued, throwing some shade at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
“What about the safety aspect? That’s what people are concerned about. Now. Do you have some concerns about the safety of these vaccines?” followed up Brody as Trump initially skirted the question to discuss mandates.
Just so you understand, I’m not advocating for Trump to run 3rd party. I hope he doesn’t.
I am arguing against the conventional wisdom that Perot caused Bush to lose, which I don’t think is proven, or even provable.
The situation is so much different today what with the fraud that is happening in just about every election, I don’t see either Trump or DeSantis being allowed to win even in a two person race.
And as of now, we don’t even know if DeSantis is running.
Pfizer/bioNTech
Moderna
AstraZeneca/Oxford
J&J/Janssen
Novavax
Sanofi/GSK
They weren’t all used in the US but they were part of the program.
Merck was also working on one but abandoned it.

Very good job!!
I think most likely Perot caused Bush to lose as he siphoned off votes, how many it is not provable. Trump can’t get out of his own way as he alienates his own base like crazy...Just this weekend he alienated his biggest base the Christians.
Appreciated, Thank-you 🖖
“Oh, and he got the vaccines approved.“
No! He had nothing to do with approving the “vaccines”. Approving vaccines is for scientists, not Presidents. What he did was cut out bullshit red tape - for example, if the approval process has needless delays because of arbitrary schedules - or limited budget - he can force a faster process that way - but not the science.
Fauci et all cut corners on the science - which is criminal - and President Trump had nothing to do with that.
>>> No! He had nothing to do with approving the “vaccines”. Approving vaccines is for scientists, not Presidents. <<<
Here’s what Trump himself said in a different interview with Laura Ingraham:
TRUMP: Now, you know, we came up with a vaccine that was done with my administration. And frankly, me. The FDA is not in love with me because I pushed them at a level that they’ve never been pushed. But we got a vaccine in nine months. Laura, and it was supposed to take five years.
Fauci said it’s probably never going to happen. Fauci was saying three years, four years, five years. A lot of people said twelve years and I got it done in nine months. And it’s you know, it’s really a great accomplishment out of it.
Slicing that one rather fine.
No one else could have cleared the decks (”cut the red tape”) the way Trump did, IMHO.
I doubt very much that he will ever repudiate OWS, or the vaccines.
Nor should he.
the vaccine smells like a bio-weapon
It smelled good at the start like a fine steak, but stunk it up like a small piece of meat stuck in kitchen drain...
This is why Trump will lose and lose badly. He can’t admit he made mistakes and keeps pushing this poison.
I was under the impression that an employee could leave a job. If I recall correctly there is a constitutional amendment against slavery. If your employer wanted you to be vaccinated your didn’t have to be vaccinated. The beauty of the free market is you can always look elsewhere.
But Desantis has admitted it was wrong. Trump doubled down on stupidity.
This is a fascinating article that you might enjoy:
“Alex Azar’s Story of the Genesis of Operation Warp Speed”
Azar is the guy who basically thought up and organized Warp Speed. (Fauci was a cog in this machine, he had nothing to do with designing or running it). Azar had a lot of prior experience with vaccines. He knew where the choke points are that slow down progress and did all that was possible to eliminate them.
“The rap on the drug industry is that it is the riskiest business on Earth that attracts the most risk averse people on Earth. And so, when you’re running a drug company, you’re managing a portfolio and basically trying to manage it horizontally and vertically.”
“The way you do that and manage this risk when you’re placing multibillion dollar bets on individual molecules, is you de-risk. You do that by having multiple products, multiple therapeutic areas, and multiple mechanisms of action. Then, importantly, you de-risk by molecule. Study, learn a bit, wait, invest, study, learn a bit more, then invest. Through this stepwise de-risking or gating of decision making, you learn to de-risk.”
“That’s what slows down the process so much. In addition, manufacturing — especially when you’re dealing with proteins and biologics, as with a vaccine, is where you will manufacture the smallest quantity possible for your clinical trials. To move from, say, a 20-liter bioreactor, which you use for clinical trial materials, to a 2000-liter bioreactor for commercial scale manufacturing is not just a math problem. Proteins are very moody, and they don’t just do what you say. And just because a protein on an E. coli feeder cell line works in a 20-liter bioreactor, doesn’t mean it’s going to work in a 2000-liter one.”
“We ended up deciding to invest in six molecules, six vaccines across three different platforms. So, we had the old standby traditional measles vaccine kind of platform, which would be protein sub unit vaccines, where you basically get the part of the protein that will cause the body to produce antibodies. And then in the bioreactor, you replicate enough of it, you add an adjuvant to it to provoke the immune response, and then you just inject that in the body. We did two products — Novavax and Sanofi/GSK adjuvant — on that. We had a second platform which was adenovirus. We had just gotten an Ebola vaccine using adenovirus as the vehicle for bringing the RNA into the body and replicating it. It was sort of proven because J&J had an adenovirus Ebola vaccine. So, we did that with J&J and AstraZeneca. And then we had our mRNA platform, which we had with Moderna and then also Pfizer, which basically sends the mRNA through a lipid envelope to protect it as it gets into the cells and causes your cells to basically be its own bioreactor, producing the proteins needed to cause the immune response but that had never been proven before.”
“So, we had to two shots on three different mechanisms. And then we pre-funded everything upfront. We funded all the way through phase III development. So literally as they’re still testing in phase I in 20 people to see if someone will get sick from it, we were standing up clinical trial sites for phase III.”
“In addition, in June, we started in commercial scale manufacturing of vaccines. So, we were making hundreds of millions of doses of vaccine in June of 2020 before some of these products had even entered phase III. Then we did some of the largest clinical trials in human history — 30,000 per vaccine. Why does that matter? Because the way you test therapeutics is sort of easy: Somebody gets sick, you give them (the drug) and see if they get better. In vaccines, it’s different. You take half of your clinical trial subjects, give them the vaccine. The other half you give a placebo sugar shot and you send them out into the wild and see how many people get sick. And then when a certain number of people in the clinical trial get sick, the Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) allows you to open the black box, look inside, and you see of the people who got sick, how many were vaccinated, how many weren’t. Those are clinical trial results. So, the more people you have in the trial the faster you can get results in addition to a measure of how much the disease burden happens to be in the community. So we pre-funded that.”
Untested, it has become a disaster. There is a reason it takes 5 to 10 years to produce a vaccine. Trump owns it then.
Unless your divorced, forced to pay alimony and a judge tells you if you quit your job because you refuse to take that poison you're going to jail for non-compliance.
Yes, that happened.
I seriously doubt that gas_passer is an actual Medical Doctor.
