DON'T GET NUKED
The Navy and Marine Corps rightly spend much of their time on chemical, biological and radiological training. As bombs and triggering devices become more mobile and terrorists become more sophisticated, it is important to prepare ourselves for disaster while hoping that it will be avoided.
Regarding chemical and biological warfare, it is especially difficult to believe that something so small and invisible can be so deadly and dangerous. Just a little toxin in the air . . . and the next thing you know you're doing the "funky chicken" on the ground. Bad attitudes can be like that, too! Invisible and deadly. So can negativity, apathy, lethargy, and passivity. You can't really see those invisible attitude-toxins. But they are deadly poison. Just one little taste . . . and destruction of the soul follows. Prayer: Heavenly God and Protector of our lives ... Give us a zest for life. Protect us from all the poisons and toxins that threaten our soul and spirit. Help us to suit up with anticipation and excitement for all which life has to offer. Cause us to breathe in the fresh air of purity and righteousness. And, Lord, if there does come a time of destruction and war, protect us from any form of chemical, biological, or nuclear warfare. May common sense and peace prevail in this troubled world and bring us hope. Amen. LT L. D. Bohannon, CHC, USNR |

No wind helps a lot, especially if you need to go out, which I did this afternoon.
No one had mentioned snow in the forecast at LH chat and it wasn’t snowing when I pulled up the cam this afternoon. I left the computer for a few minutes and when I came back, there it was.
One of the chatters who lives in Anchorage said he’d heard there could be freezing rain tonight. What I see right now looks like sleet. It’s bouncing off the little hazard lights close to the cam. Y’all don’t need ice on top of all that snow.
I hope that owl has moved on so your ducks can show up to eat. They must be really hungry by now. :-(

Glad the weather is tolerable, and the back is improving.
Knee and neck issues are not fun. Take it real easy.

Glad to hear it finally died down. It gets old after a little while.
It was cold again because the clouds took their time moving out. It got up into the 40s in the west side of the state where the sun shone but never got above 35 here. Now the clouds have moved out and we’ll be really cold tonight. But tomorrow is supposed to get up into the 50s and it’ll keep warming up from there.

I get tired of high winds after about 5 minutes. LOL!
Dang, it’s gonna be cold there tonight. Our lowest tonight is about 48. After the 73 tomorrow, it’ll be in the 60s for highs all next week. More seasonal at least. :)

Yeah, they’re saying mid 20s for the low tonight.rrrrrr
Low 50s tomorrow, upper 50s Monday, then 60s. But with those 60s comes rain for 4 days.

Colder than I like but it could be worse.
I don’t check the heaters every night. I checked then yesterday and they’re both at good settings. I’m staying put tonight.

Fired up tonight for the first time in this new year!
Can’t believe how the first half of January has been so mild.

I don’t blame you for not wanting anything to do with going out there tonight! Anything that needs doing can just wait till it warms up.
I know you’ll really enjoy the warmer temps next week. We’ll have similar temps but for you they will be a warm-up. For me a cool-down. LOL!

I do enjoy the warm breaks but like I said last night, it’s bound to get cold and stay that way for a while and we can’t get acclimated with this going on.
We need some prolonged cold weather to kill off bugs or it’s going to be unbearable this spring and summer. Now that I have to do the mowing, that prospect isn’t very pleasant.

The prospect of having to mow that vast lawn isn’t a pleasant prospect either. I know it’s not something you look forward to.
I can certainly understand the concept of the cold weather killing the bugs. Especially after getting mosquito-bit last night. LOL! That came from waaaaaay out of left field. Or the water barrel.

I won’t be able to mow all of it. I can’t drive the tractor pulling the big mower. I’ll just mow the yards and along the driveway. Hubby’s cousin will come over once in a while to mow the field areas since he knows how to drive the tractor. What I’ll mow is plenty large though. I don’t look forward to it.
I imagine being mosquito-bit last night WAS a surprise. LOL Even with our brief warm spells, I haven’t seen any sign of them here so far. I hope the Christmas freeze zapped a bunch of them but we’ll still have more than enough this year.
