During an interview with NPR aired on Friday’s “Morning Edition,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen argued that inflation has been “quite low for the last six months or so,” but she wants to see “inflation come down to much lower levels” over the next year.
Yellen said, “Inflation has really been quite moderate, quite low for the last six months or so, importantly, because of lower energy prices. We continue to see improvement in supply chains. Goods prices have actually been falling. And some of the supply chain issues that pushed up the prices of goods and commodities, those have really turned around. Rent indexes continue to rise. But, really, we see those coming down substantially over the next six months or so.”

Everyone I know is complaining about high utility bills and high food costs. You can see it everywhere in high restaurant charges, which are ridiculous. So even if you buy groceries and cook your own food, the costs are dramatically up. Yellen is a liar and a fool.
She still doesn’t understand inflation.
There is no reason to listen to this dumb old bag
But she gets that the majority of voters don't understand inflation. She's just taking advantage of it.
She should be home sitting in a rocking chair make doilies.
Well when you don’t have to pay for your stuff.......
She’s a frigging leftist. If Trump were still President she’d be screaming at the top of her lungs about rampant inflation
“She’s a witch, burn her!”
Back in the summer, I renewed my guaranteed gas price up to 78 cents/therm from 55 cents/therm. It is now selling on monthly current basis (from last month) at over $1/therm.
The same goes for almost EVERY food item in Walmart where I shop - and Ingles AND Kroger. Saw today where Walmart had some UTZ regular potato chips I used to buy for a dollar are now $2.98.
I bet that old leftist bag hasn’t shopped for herself in at least a decade.
Items that once were in the $3-$5 range are now in the $5-$10 range where I grocery shop. My cat’s food was 49 cents/can two years ago, now it’s 99 cents/can... that’s one just off the top of my head. I used to spend about $60 a week on groceries... now I’m spending about $100 every week.
She’s hoping people like me will forget that my grocery bill has gone up 60% since O’Biden took office. Egg prices have quadrupled. Most of my usual grocery items have gone up 40-100%.
ya, so its been record high when applying the standard on democrat info.
that standard being what ever they say is happening is the exact opposite.
(Inflation Has Been ‘Quite Low for the Last Six Months’)
😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃🤣🤣🤣
Obviously living in an alternate universe, which doesn't include grocery shopping or driving.
High gas prices play into Pedo Joe's plan to force us all to drive electric cars. I guess high grocery prices are designed to make us lose weight?
The rate at which inflation rate is increasing has been low. But every day, every week, on and on the prices keep going up on products compared week to week.
Rate of change of inflation is NOT lower inflation.
The ignorance is stunning.
Unreal!
However, the communists, who now rule us, know that they do have 50% of the electorate believing every absurd communist proclamation...
Throw in the 55-to-60 million MIVs infesting the country and they have a solid majority of 2024 voters supporting them...
as things stand now, the communists could receive 115-to-125 million votes in 2024...
“Let them eat eggs”
I, for one, was delighted to hear that the chocolate ration was increased from 25 grams to 15 grams!
Yeah, that is some major gas-lighting right there. Anyone who has been to the grocery store knows that prices continue to rise. And when they say “Oh, inflation was just 6.5% last month”, they are comparing it to last December when inflation was already at 7.10 percent.
I realize that this are official economic numbers, but consumers are comparing prices to what they were two years ago. And, they are looking at their monthly budget, decreasing savings, and wondering how long they can last. That’s just a reality regardless of government’s official numbers, and it’s condescending of officials to refuse to acknowledge that fact. Their nonchalant attitude toward the pain the middle class is experiencing pisses people off. Those on government assistance will be fine as their allotments continue to increase. Those on SS will soon be reduced to eating a potato a day since cat food is even too expensive.
Also, take into consideration that food and energy prices are not included in the figures, plus the fact that they fudge the numbers a bit anyway, I believe actual inflation is more along the lines of 20% YOY. And prices at the grocery store continue to rise.
