Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has unveiled plans to use domestically-sourced uranium to build up the kingdom’s nuclear power industry as part of the government’s plans to be “a global leader in the renewable energy sector.”

“The kingdom intends to utilize its national uranium resources, including in joint ventures with willing partners in accordance with international commitments and transparency standards,” Abdulaziz bin Salman said during the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh on 11 January.

The Saudi official also said that the process would involve “the entire nuclear fuel cycle which involves the production of yellowcake, low enriched uranium and the manufacturing of nuclear fuel both for our national use and of course for export.”

They know we’re going to let Iran get the bomb so they’re going to get one too.

> Saudi Arabia plans to enrich uranium for nuclear fuel <

This makes sense, as Saudi Arabia has few energy resources of its own.
Oh, wait...

Maybe we’ll have a nuclear war from North Africa, through the Middle East, and into Asia.

Bingo. It’s way too much of a risk to put your faith in the United States these days. That’s especially true now, with Mr. Potato Head in charge.

And I’m sure the Saudis have been following our election scandals. They know that the next president after Mr. Potato Head will probably be even worse.

Who saw this coming?

Leftists sure didn’t.

I knew as soon as I realized they supported Iran getting the
bomb, that Saudi Arabia would be forced to develop their own.

Obama single handed set up a nuclear arms race in the region.

Good luck trusting SA and Iran.

My understanding is that SA fully funded the Pakistan nuke program. They already have the tech, knowledge and money to get it done.

I assume that Pakistan already has several in storage for SA if they need or want them.

I long since gave up on non-proliferation being an achievable goal. Countries that want to play nuclear games will do so, and there’s not much we can do about it. It’s 1940s technology.

They can have clean energy and sell all the dirty energy to Asia and Africa and South America. It’s a financial gain for them with relatively small outlay considering how much they rake in on oil every year. I wonder if France will be building for them since we pretty much got out of nuclear. Except for submarines. France was aced out of the latest submarine deal much to their chagrin. So I suspect they will want in on this as payback.

China was helping them develop their nuclear weapons tech, and we still gave them nuclear energy tech under Trump. So stupid.
