That's outrageous!

For many, having Biden for POTUS is like something out of the Twilight Zone.

Social Security and Medicare withholding should be regarded as an investment that is loaned to the government by yourself and your employer. That’s why more goes out of the program later than what is paid in by employees and their employers. It’s not welfare.

National Defense is a proper original constitutional expense.

If you’re going to cut something, cut unnecessary regulatory offices, unnecessary government management incomes, public education and funding to the states for unnecessary social programs (Clinton “partnerships”).

HHS gets more funding than the other programs.

Good for the GOP if they are FINALLY willing to move us toward ending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in the next few years. When patriots take back the government in ‘24, that should be high on the agenda.

Stop deducting the “payroll taxes” and stop sending the checks. It’s all unconstitutional.

The billions we have given the corrupt oligarchs in Ukraine could go a long way keeping Medicare and Social Security afloat. Of course the Big Guy likely gets his 10% of the action too.

it’s an old playbook, but it consistently gets the Dems votes. The Reps need an equally strong countermessage besides, no we won’t, starting with how much SS andMC is funded through payroll and how really crappy the govt investing to grow those premiums has been

Feds should get out of the education/loan business should be a priority. Totally unnecessary.

It’s not going to happen and the GOP said they’re not touching either SS or Medicare.

“Cutting Social Security means slashing our earned benefits. It should NEVER be an option.”

Then you are (without realizing it) advocating for its complete elimination.

Its probably a foregone conclusion anyway.

You, and most of America do not yet comprehend just how broke we are, and what that means for “your check”.

What is the most consistently Republican voting group by age? Silent Generation and Boomer voters, who receive Social Security and Medicare. Look at The Villages, Florida, so conservative that Mike Pence couldn’t draw much of a crowd at a recent visit. This wasn’t true 30 years ago, when most of the elderly were of the GI and Lost Generations, many of whom were ere FDR Democrats. Entitlement reform is necessary, but there will be a political cost.

“It’s not an entitlement when you pay into it your entire working life”

Call it whatever you want. What you fail to understand is that they lied to you.

The problem is the Congress already raided all the money from the Social Security kitty. There’s nothing there but an old IOU.

Well, that certainly doesn’t help, but Social Security has never really been solvent over the long term. You can point to periods where there was still money in the trust fund, and so people think it was doing okay, but it was always falling far short of the funds needed to cover projected expenditures.

But what do you expect from a system that was designed as a scam? When the social security law was passed, you couldn’t collect benefits until 65, while the average lifespan was only about 63. People were never meant to get their money back, by and large. It was just a clever excuse to get people to pay more taxes.

Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican who received the most votes after McCarthy during last week’s marathon Speaker fight, went on TV and endorsed privatizing Social Security, while McCarthy’s House started to schedule a vote on Rep. Buddy Carter’s Fair Tax Act, which would defund Social Security and Medicare.
