A six year-old boy has been taken into custody after he allegedly deliberately shot his first-grade teacher at his Virginia elementary school, leaving her critically-ill.
Newport News Police have taken a student, who has not been publicly identified, into custody. The female teacher, who is in her 30s, has also not been identified and was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.
'The individual is a six-year-old student and is right now in police custody,' Newport News Chief Scott Drew said at a press conference on Friday. 'This was not an accidental shooting.
'It was in a classroom, an altercation took place there,' he said. 'We did not have a situation where someone was going around the school shooting. We had a situation in one particular location where a gunshot was fired.'
The incident unfolded at Richneck Elementary School, a school for kids aged five to nine, just before 2pm. No children were harmed and police are working to figure out how the child had access to the gun.
A grandmother of one of the students told DailyMail.com that a student brought 'shiny gold bullets' to school last week, but it is unclear if it is the same child who was taken into custody today.
A British parent of one of the students, who is currently based in the US as her husband is in the military, is now demanding the town do something about the gun problem.
'Guns, that's the biggest problem in this country,' she told WTKR. 'Why is there a seven-year-old with a bloody gun? ... How does a seven-year-old have a gun?
'I'm only here because my husband is in the military. Otherwise, I would not have chosen to come to this country.'

Far less impulse control than even an Amish teen.
I remember in elementary school, we had this little tough boy who shot one of the janitors with a sling shot.
Never saw that kid again.
Hey, British lady, your military tried to “do something” about American guns in 1775.
We still have guns and you have no property on this continent.
Shut up or go home!
Maybe the little boy did not like being told he was really a girl and should cut penis off.
If so kt.is a righteous shoot
A woman was shot with a 38 caliber pistol and the bullet is in her yet....
Old Justin Wilson joke (before TV)
The Boy needed better parenting and a better village. Parenting was better in my youth as was the village. Bringing a gun to school, aiming it at someone, then, shooting? Not in my, then, six year old thought process.
As for that insipid British female…..
Last week it was reported that a ten-year old shot his mother in the face and killed her because she wouldn’t buy him some sort of video game hood.
Let me guess…the teacher was just vaccinated!
What is Newport news about? Thought it was a military area.
Maybe she was trying to misgender him, and he was offended. Was she using the correct pronouns?
We have 16 year old 6th graders FWIW.....
````````````````````````````````````````````
A friend of mine was in the eighth grade when I was a seventh grader, then we were fellow eighth graders, then I went on to high school while he stayed on to eighth grade for another half year, when he hit 16 years old and legally dropped out.
He passed away recently after a productive life at age 78.We are not all born “smart” but we can all use whatever God gives us.
We had an 8th grader who was 16 years old, in a parochial school, mess with a nun who bloodied his nose with a left hook. Never had any trouble from that kid again.
Ah, back in the day when teachers, even nuns, kept order in the classroom.
At six I wanted to be a cowboy.How about you?
I agree 100%. The child had a firearm because of parental failure. If the biological father was not involved in raising his child, charge him with neglect and abandonment too.
That dizzy British broad made an ass out of herself. Her husband should be ashamed. Go home knucklehead.
Non Sequitur. Plus your argument was filled with logical fallacies. The kid admitted intent, do you know the definition of intent is? Again, could care less of his age, needs to be separated from society until further notice. Going by your argument style, I suggest we give him a giant lollipop, PS5 with the entire software library (Especially all the DLC form Call of Duty), and a subscription to Guns & Ammo.
