NBC’s Chuck Todd said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell’s Reports” that former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for speaker after Tuesday’s failed votes did not get a “single new vote” today.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Some really good conversations took place last night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA,THE ONLY SPEAKER IN U.S. HISTORY TO HAVE LOST THE “HOUSE” TWICE!”

My vote would be for McCarthy based on Jim Jordan and Scalise’s endorsement.
Yeah this throws the never-Trumpers in a quandry.
1. Cant do anything Trump wants.
2. Trump said let McCarthy take his shot.
3. .......?!?wtf do we do now?
If he has agreed to the holdouts agenda, like Chip Roy, then fine. I want a vote to cut off Ukranian aid fast.
Chuck Todd sounds like many of the FReepers supporting DeSantis for POTUS 2024.
Same nonsense.
4. Trump is the past.
Of course F chuck todd would be right there when Trump’s influence faded.
We’ll see. Maybe, maybe not.
5. DeSantis is 44. Trump is 76. Biden is 80.
With this:
May 12, 2021 — House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) insisted Wednesday that no one in his party is questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 election....
I can’t work up any sympathy for McCarthy.
Pence already filled the role of disloyal traitor.
McCarthy is a cheese-eating surrender monkey. He is Paul Ryan’s protege and and he has all of the WRONG friends endorsing him.
For the good of the party McCarthy needs to withdraw.
Does Trump still endorse the Fey Wray?
Bagpipe Barr?
“protege” -—> Stooge...
McCarthy has no backbone and is a squish living on the down low - a real disgusting human being.
I thought he got fired.
Not even Trump can rehabilitate McTurd
Deal with it
Sam Rayburn lost speakership twice, so did Joseph Martin.
Henry Clay and Frederick Muhlenberg also but that was not due to party control - I’ll have to look those one up when I get a chance.
Muhlenberg and Clay don’t count - they did not seek re-election as Speaker in the next Congress.
Rayburn and Martin do count.
The Senate can continue confirming judges. Biden is on course to place more judges than PDJT at this point.
I’m sure McConnell will happily assist.
