No, as some have worried, you don’t win the Speaker race by just getting the most votes, so no Hakeem Jefferies wouldn’t win just because he gets more than McCarthy. He would still need 50% of the members present +1 or nobody wins, so the only way Jefferies could possibly win is if several Republicans actually voted for him (which I suppose isn’t impossible, but highly unlikely).
