Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Monday on FNC’s “Fox & Friends” that Republican House members attempting to block Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) speaker bid have a “psychological problem.”
Gingrich said, “This is a fight between a handful of people and the entire rest of the conference. And they’re saying they have the right to screw up everything. Well, the precedent that sets is; so do the moderates, so do the members from Florida. I mean, any five people can get up and say, ‘I’m going to screw up the conference, too.’ The choice is Kevin McCarthy or chaos.”

Your "common sense" observation actually points out the real CORE ISSUE.
Republicans are constantly busy shooting themselves in the foot.

Not my problem. My point, of course, is that the REFORMS that the MAGA bunch wants simply means that MacCarthy will have to do as PROMISED, unlike all of the other loser-Speakers of the GOP, at least in the past few decades.
Why does MacCarthy FEAR having to do that? Does he answer to others, others outside of The Conference (a little Inside Politics talk)? If so, then his resistance makes sense, if not, then what is he waiting for?
...and let that be a lesson to you guys - if you try to be cute and let Democrats win over MAGA, this is the result you get.
...and, by the way, how about you guys tell US, the MAGA BASE, what is so bad with having a Speaker who represents the people who vote that way - after all, the Democrats NEVER had this kind of problem (think Pelosi, if confused here).
I confess that I have a “psychological problem” with McCarthy. Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

Fine, put McCarthy in and enjoy the next two years of the same old stuff that McCarthy and McConnell dish out, then watch us lose the majority in 2024.

No need to be so touchy, it’s my opinion and if you don’t like it that is okay. I just find it sad that some people can’t deal with change and get offended when it is suggested.

I used to LOVE Newt.
Somewhere along the way, the Newt I knew, went off the tracks.
There is “good” Newt and “bad” Newt. More and more we are seeing “bad” Newt.
I don’t trust Newt! Neither should anyone else.

I certainly didn’t need to be so touchy. I’m just sick of impossible realities. I’m not sure if some don’t understand that having one part of government ties hands together on what can be signed by the president. The only realistic thing that can be done is the investigations. Maybe a bill or two that nobody will like Could end up signed.
