SWAT teams descended on sleepy Poconos mountain town to catch Libertarian Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger who was 'obsessively vegan' as a teen and 'looked drugged at school'

SWAT teams descended on a sleepy residential community in Pennsylvania in the early hours of Friday morning where they arrested Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger more than a month after four university students were slain in their beds.

Kohberger, 28, was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police at a home in Albrightsville, a small town in the heart of the Poconos Mountains more than 2,000 miles from where the gruesome killings took place on November 13.

Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said investigators believe Kohberger broke into the students' home 'with the intent to commit murder.'...

Friday's arrest is the first major break in the case - with Kohberger asking if 'anyone else was arrested' when he was taken into custody. An extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Kohberger is a registered Libertarian, although does not appear to have had any active social media profiles at the time of his arrest.

A relative told The New York Post Kohberger is 'OCD' about his eating habits and forced his family to buy new pots that had never been used to cook meat.

'It was above and beyond being vegan. His aunt and uncle had to buy new pots and pans because he would not eat from anything that had ever had meat cooked in them. He seemed very OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)' the woman said.

During a press conference on Friday authorities confirmed that a white Hyundai Elantra was discovered in the search – with sources saying it was towed from outside Kohberger's home.

Law enforcement sources told CNN that his DNA was discovered at the scene of the crime – with officers managing to track down who owned the car seen in the area of the slayings.

He was kept under surveillance, with the FBI watching him for four days, while investigators from Moscow Police and Idaho State Police worked to get an arrest warrant....

Sources say that authorities knew who they were looking for and hunted the suspect down to Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains - more than 2,400 miles from Idaho.

NewsNation reported that Kohberger had a quiet, blank stare' when arrested by local cops and the FBI on Friday morning.

It is understood that Kohberger is a PhD college student at Washington State University, within the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, with the university removing his profile from their website.

Once again we are looking overseas for more info on a US crime.

Looks like he was as looney toons as some other vegans I have met.

Maybe not a health connection but something changed between his 11th grade and 12th grade year, per a quote in the article.

I wonder if the prison will buy new pots for him that never had meat in them. His aunt should have said “starve then! I’m not buying new pots”.

Buying new pots and pans for every meal? Are you F kidding me? The Aunt and Uncle haven’t heard of Dawn dish soap?

He looks like Dennis from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Ironically, one of the subplots of that series is that Dennis may be a psycho-killer.

Kohberger’s parents may have been involved in ID’ing and locating this killer.

No idea but maybe to the Brits a "Libertarian" is a slur of some kind.

This is from the Daily Mail, so interpretation is often needed.

Why is that in the title?

My assumption is it's their attempt to avoid saying he's a lunatic Leftist. An OCD vegan who demands cookware that's never had meat prepared in them? That's full-blown, Left-wing crazy.

I wonder how they knew who to look for, as no talk of previous arrests. Will be interesting to hear details if he makes it back to Idaho alive.

“Looks like he was as looney toons as some other vegans I have met.”

It may not be a precursor to murder, but every vegan I’ve met thinks they are better than everyone else. So, in a way, it fed into his craziness that they were lower life forms than him.

Oh, and a true Libertarian wouldn't demand anything of anyone. Live and let live.

something changed between his 11th grade and 12th grade year

Not saying the guy has schizophrenia, but he was in his late teens when this change occurred. This disease commonly begins in the very early 20's, but it can manifest a little earlier. Some drugs, such as marijuana, can alter brain chemistry too.

Now criminal science majors can add OCD to the list of checkmarks for serial killers.

Nick Mcloughlin, who was friends with Kohberger at school told the Daily Beast he was 'stunned' to see his old acquaintance arrested.

Mcloughlin said Kohberger was 'down to Earth,' when he graduated junior year. But at the start of senior year, Kohberger returned 'thinner than a rail,' had turned 'aggressive' and taken up boxing.

Recalling how their friendship soured, Mcloughlin added: 'He always wanted to fight somebody, he was bullying people. We started cutting him off from our friend group because he was 100 percent a different person.'

Kohberger (sic) said he has 'no idea' what prompted the sudden change.

Little is known about Kohberger's family. His father, Michael, and mother Maryann, live in the home where he was believed to have been staying when he was arrested.

He didn’t force his family to do anything. They willingly acquiesced to the demands of a stunted misfit.

All these morons sure came out of hiding during the COVID fiasco, didn’t they?

“Godwin’s Law” be damned, Hitler was also “obsessively vegan,” or so we’re told.

Can’t trust those guys.

oh please. The family was not “forced” to replace the pots/pans- they gave in to this vegan weirdo.
they could have told him to sit down, shut up, and make other eating arrangements!
