The omicron subvariant XBB.1.5 has rapidly spread to become the dominant COVID-19 mutation in the U.S., now accounting for 40.5 percent of all cases.
The XBB.1.5 omicron subvariant as of this week has pushed out the BQ.1 and the BQ.1.1 subvariants from their previous positions as the most detected coronavirus mutations, according to surveillance conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The XBB subvariant, from which XBB.1.5 descends, is a recombinant of two subvariants that descended from the BA.2 omicron subvariant. That means it carries genetic data from two versions of the coronavirus that originated from the BA.2 subvariant.
Regionally, XBB.1.5 now accounts for the majority of COVID-19 cases in the northeast, identified as causing 75 percent of cases in New England and in the New York tri-state area.

Every time they issue a newly revised shot/booster, they get all these new variants.

Just curious, is it still true that if you are not vaccinated that you can’t get the latest jab? What if I suddenly want the latest version of the jab? To do so would I have to take all the other jabs first?

Since Thanksgiving, in the counties north of Gay Frisco, the latest variant (?) has been striking many of us, who dared to have a family Thanksgiving function or w/friends.
Many friends, some relatives and people we say hi to, have been hit by the new variant. Basically zero docs in our area suggested any treatment or to go to the hospital. If you tested +, just stay home, rest and drink a lot liquids.
Basically, any treatment has been drink liquids, take your baby aspirin and if you have a steroid nasal spray to use it. Then try to get some rest.
Most of us are over the severe cold symptoms with some lingering effects. I apparently had a week+ of covid gout in/on my left foot. We treated it with an non RX steroid cream, and I’m fine now.
My wife recently, has had severe lower back pain around her back. She had Xrays taken today. I’m betting on Covid again,
No one was treated by a MD, and they were told by Rns on the phone to treat it like they were having a cold.
Basically, everyone getting the latest Covid crud had at least 2 shots. Some had 1 or 2 boosters with zero protection.
Our Thanksgiving Covid crud came from basically a healthy 50 something guy. He has had every Covid shot known, and he and his wife still got the current crud.
Other Ages have been 50 to mid 80’s.
