A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students whose bodies were found in a rental home near campus last month, multiple law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said Friday.
It marks the first major break in a case that has both captivated and mystified the globe.
The sources said the man was apprehended in the Scranton area Friday morning. Authorities are expected to hold a news conference on the case later Friday.
Few details have been released publicly in the gruesome Nov. 13 slayings of 21-year-olds Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, and 20-year-olds Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. The four friends, members of the university’s Greek system, were discovered across the street from campus, leaving the small town of Moscow, Idaho, deeply shaken. Relatively few details have been released about the homicides, intensifying the mystery.
The Moscow Police Department has said it was working through nearly 12,000 tips in an effort to solve the case.
More like a backslap fest than a news conference.
I bet details are leaked before they go public.
His cousin Brandon received the US and World record on July 11, 2019 for drug free US Powerlifting (666.90 lbs).
Brandon is survived by his Uncle and Aunt, Michael Francis and MaryAnn Kohberger.

Little is known about Kohberger’s family. His father, Michael, and mother Maryann, live in the home where he was believed to have been staying when he was arrested.
In 2010, Michael filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It’s unclear what he and his wife do for work now.
He has two older sisters - Anne and Melissa. Melissa, 31, is a therapist in New Jersey.
While he is accused of atrocious brutality, both Melissa and his mother Maryann have spoken out in the past against violence.
In May, after the Uvalde mass shooting in Texas, Maryann submitted a letter to a local newspaper in which she included a poem written by Melissa about the massacre.
Conditioned a white male, told the local authorities where to “nab” him?
That is right, and I believe that after the alert went out, a nearby liquor store proprietor identified the white Hyundai Elantra, and very possibly, the license plate #.
If no license plate # was identified, LEO now had a vehicle description to scour campus databases and road/toll cameras et al.

I can’t believe they had a news conference and didn’t mention one detail, only saying by law they were not allowed to. Begs the question, then why bother having a news conference?
LEO probably asked campus police at Idaho and WSU to check their parking permit records.
That's good news...
Those poor women. First the awful news about what your brother is accused of doing. Then their careers might take some serious blows.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to have a sibling you (supposedly) love turn out to be a monster.
“Begs the question, then why bother having a news conference?”
Simply because if they didn’t hold a news conference, you, and millions of others, would be asking “Why aren’t they holding a news conference? What are they hiding?”
I didn’t listen. Can you give a synopsis?
Well stated.
heck was in Bethlehem this Sept......
What do Denmark, a trawler, a whore house, a tuna fish cannery, the place I feed my cats, etc all have in common?
Something is very very very fishy here.
It takes a news conference to say, “We can’t provide any details until the suspect is extradited?”
??
Would that not be better than repeating, “Sorry, I can’t answer that”, over and over and over for 20 minutes?
It does sound silly, but if this guy was a serial killer he could have killed more people on his way to Pennsylvania.
So some people would certainly wonder.
Still, it is very important in times like this to be very patient and avoid public idle speculation.
News reporters too often straddle the line between newsworthy and speculation.
Judge Jeanine on the Five just said that her sources told her that the suspect was tracked by genetic DNA
23 and Me, Ancestry.com, etc???
YMMV
You have a good point. I’ll ask the Admin to remove the Sunday thread after 8 days.
It is a convenience to me to have it up on Saturday in order to gather links when I prepare the new thread the next morning. Also, the other posters like to quickly find it (the previous week’s) and compare guests one week to the next, but it doesn’t need it to stay forever.
In the press conference, Moscow Police Chief James Fry said that they had received 19,000 tips and conducted 300 interviews.
Imagine running 19,000 tips to ground! And, after sifting through all of that, connecting the dots on the few relevant pieces of information.
John Wayne Gacy said something similar when he was arrested. I would have to think as a criminology PhD candidate, he was probably familiar with the account.
