A Tesla driver was horrified to see another Tesla vehicle burst into flames after hitting a highway barrier in Los Angeles. The Tesla that was engulfed in flames was reportedly on Autopilot at the time of the crash.
Josh Kaplan was driving his Tesla Model X on a Los Angeles freeway last month when he saw another Tesla ahead of him was stopped on the highway. As he got closer, he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle.

Spontaneous Human Combustion happens
Alot in Los Angeles.
Aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the test drive?
“We hope you enjoyed the ride.” - Johnny Cab
The ev bros will be along directly to tell us mouth breathing knucle draggers how it happens more to internal combustion engine vehicles.......just a matter of time.
What Autopilot can do
Basic Autopilot is a system that is installed on every modern Tesla as a standard feature. This system includes very basic features that lets the Tesla automatically accelerate up to a pre-set speed, brake for other vehicles or pedestrians that it sees ahead, as well as minimal steering to keep your car centered in a lane.
This Tesla Autopilot system is designed to “assist with the most burdensome parts of driving” — namely driving long distances on highways and other similar roads. These cars also come with emergency braking, collision alerts, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. Crucially, that last feature only controls acceleration and braking, leaving the driver to do the steering.
That means it’s working!
If NBC was the source of this story, just another lie by them.
Told ya 😏
To be fair, the Autopilot system did navigate very accurately to the scene of the crash.
I was driving in a tesla with a retired judge and he was telling me how the car does “stupid s***” like trying to turn off the road or could even suddenly stopped.
It occurred to me it’s more stressful and energy draining to be monitoring what the car is doing than actually driving yourself.
Its an AI thingy...the mobile Tesla detected an out of service vehicle ahead and drove towards it.
Since every manufacturer is implementing theses features somebody must want them.
Ironic how none of these EV reports concern other than Musk company vehicles.
The sparkler effect was likely caused by individual sells within the battery exploding individually as the cells around them became superheated.
The Tesla does its own buying and selling?
(Emphasis mine)
In the Middle East they call these incidents car bombings. Here, we call it “progress.”
ch-EV-rolet. 🤔👍. Happy new yea! r
“Tesla Bursts into Flames After Hitting Highway Barrier While on Autopilot in Los Angeles”
Kind of STUPID putting a Tesla on ‘Autopilot’ if one plans to drive into a barrier.
Try something else, you fossil-polluting types.
