The LiFePO ceiis you are talking about, the Li is lithium and the PO is the phosphate ion which is where the oxygen you were talking about in lithium batteries comes from. You are talking about drawbacks to lithium batteries and then offering lithium batteries as a replacement.

This Tesla Autopilot system is designed to create bad drivers.

I had a Kia Sportage as a rental car recently. It did some of those annoying things, and couldn’t be turned off.

Do. Not. Want.

“The best car you could have with the technology at hand is IMO a diesel-electric hybrid.”

Pretty obvious, but I don’t know of any of these, at least in the US. Pretty much cuts fuel use by 75% compared to gasoline, at least in most driving conditions. Without all of the political crap, we’d be well on our way towards these cars, which would be pushing 60+ MPG.

“It also shook the wheel when trying to give cars on narrow winding roads a little extra room.”.
Experienced this with a recent rental car.
Even when I was the only vehicle on the road the car kept shaking the wheel no matter how well I centered it in the lane while cornering.

It’s not a feature, it’s a bug!
I have decided to never own any “Modern” car.
If it has an ECU it is junk to me.

Yep, done many brake jobs in my ‘working life’ and I fully understand that every bit of powder (asbestos, composite, metallic, or whatever) could have been saved as a HUGE AMOUNT of fuel with a properly designed hybrid, it bothers me.

And I’m no Leftist, as I oppose us being involved in Ukraine.

It occurred to me it’s more stressful and energy draining to be monitoring what the car is doing than actually driving yourself.

I have that autopilot lane-assist on my Nissan. Using it the few times to try it out was indeed stressful, as the car floated from side to side in the highway lane driving itself. Scary, so I reverted to always driving in manual mode. Heck, I rarely use cruise control, because I want complete control of driving.

Wow! Tesla could have the potential of being an autopilot-guided fire bomb! Next will be a background check to own one.

The irony is that their actions serve to undermine demand for EVs, offering some ‘rationale’ for the ridiculous mandates now undertaken by states on the left coast.

Personally, I could care less that Musk seemingly has had an ‘awakening’.

Since every manufacturer is implementing theses features somebody must want them.

That is no more true than assuming that most car owners want CVT, or Turbo-4s instead of V-6 engines. New car regulations dictate MORE electronics and gizmos, airbag sensors, rear-view cameras, drunk sensor computers, etc. etc. The car companies see nothing to be gained by complaining about it, because they still want to sell cars.
