Protest the LGBTQ+ Blood Ban by Wearing Real Gay Blood

For the past 40 years, the LGBTQ+ blood ban has prevented members of the community from donating blood in what can only be deemed a simultaneously discriminatory and damaging policy, particularly in the face of a serious national blood shortage.

...

And so in protest of this hateful and harmful ban, artist Zain Curtis has released a new tee shirt featuring the real blood of gay men in order to create an actual "statement piece."

As Curtis explained in an announcement post on Instagram, the limited edition shirt is screen printed using a special red ink created by Mother Goods and artist Stuart Semple. Infused with the blood of gay men, the ink is part of a larger array of paints, inks and pens dubbed the "GAY BLOOD" collection, a set of "tool for bloody change" as a big "*** you" to the FDA.

I’d post a pic of one of the t-shirts, but my post would probably be banned.

How is this even legal? Potentially exposing people to biologically hazardous substances should be considered terrorism.

“harmful ban”

Who, exactly, is harmed?

On the other hand, I can tell you precisely who gets harmed if they receive an AIDS-tainted blood transfusion from an HIV-positive homo.

I assume they're main complaint is that the ban stigmatizes them. It suggests there's something "wrong" or "unclean" or "sick" about them.

It’s because you spread disease. Period. It’s not discriminatory any more than banning people who were in Britain during the mad cow problems.

I don’t know. Why don’t they smear t-shirts smeared with feces instead?

Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, et al respectfully disagree.

Good point. That would make a stronger statement, and identify them more accurately.

I can think of other protein-based substances they would be just as glad to have splattered on their t-shirts.

You nailed it.

Not there is anything “wrong” or “unclean” or “sick” about them.

It harmed basically no one. Let’s be realistic here. Activists are complaining and ignored the science that blood borne diseases were historically more likely in that population and testing technology wasn’t nearly what it is today.

They still whine about Reagan “silence” on AIDS while it was all over the news and his administration was funding research. The effective cocktails didn’t emerge until the nineties. Can’t blame him for science and medicine that didn’t exist. But they try. The Left didn’t want HIV patients quarantined either, that was seen as discrimination but you couldn’t depend on them acting responsibly to avoid the spread. So how many more died? These days, in CA, and maybe now federally under Joe, knowingly and deceptively infecting another person with HIV isn’t even criminal despite the lifelong effects of the chronic infection on their lives and health profiles. Again, activists getting what they want and not what’s right and fair and just.

It’s like the lies that Trump screwed up the covid response. That often comes from lockdown champions who want amnesty for their wrongheaded policies that hurt children, delayed medical care and testing and more. Trump was vocal and sensitive to those issues. He was right to be. It wasn’t about re-election, it was about the health of the post peak pandemic society. No accountability for Cuomo or Newsom. We learned the Leftist utopia of us all being urban dwellers stacked up like tin cans on a grocery shelf and dependent on mass transit is a recipe for death in a pandemic. They didn’t care and their fascism was worn as a badge of honor.
