"What I'm hearing from people my age is—everyone who says 'Let's go Brandon' at these football games, you ask them—they'll say Ron DeSantis is our leader," 21-year-old Pete Duke told Politico. "Not Trump. And they all like Trump."
Younger Millennial and Gen-Z Republican voters like Trump but they're moving towards DeSantis.
Most like both.
He said that the lack of organized effort to support Trump and his 2024 campaign at such a massive event is telling that the former president has "become the entertainer who never updated his act and become a bore."
I think that is true to some extent with almost anyone who has been the center of attention for a long time. It's one reason why even very good coaches may have to move on from a team because the players just stop listening. Unfortunately for Trump, it may feel to many people like he's had two terms because since 2020, he's been in the news almost as much as a president would be.
Everyone is susceptible to the "your act is getting old" factor. It's like a rock band years after its prime. The die hard fans will still show up for any concert, but the records just don't sell like they used to among the population as a whole.
I don't know if Trump is at that point or not, and this isn't a slam on him in particular. But it may be a factor for him just like it is for many others.
I just will never support the pub party, ever....I’ll vote fro their candidates but to me, they are all part and parcel of the cabal/rat party....
I don't think it's that surprising. Former Presidents are 1 for 7 in Presidential elections historically. Not only is Cleveland is only former President to be elected again to a non-consecutive term.
The losers are Van Buren (twice), Fillmore, Grant, Roosevelt, and Hoover. Other than Fillmore, who was the Know Nothing candidate in 1856 but was endorsed by the moribund Whig party convention, none of the losers even managed to win his former party's nomination.
If Trump manages win the GOP nomination (let alone be elected), he would be the historical exception, not the norm. Of course, that would hardly be the first time for him.
The Donald will be 47 come 2024.
I’ve watched most of this and as far as I can tell it’s been extremely pro-Trump. If people were pumping up DeSantis, I didn’t hear it.
This is an excellent event — more religious than political in many ways.
Kari Lake and Vivek Ramaswamy were so inspiring. Charlie Kirk’s opening speech was, too. But all speakers and panels were great.
Newsweek. I can’t believe this rag is still being printed.
I never see this piece of garbage in any of my doctors offices.
Check the American political scene this time next year.
President Trump will still be the dominant force--as other contenders bloom & fade.
“They” can “move” toward DeSantis all they want but this is just more psy-ops from our enemies in the media.
“What I’m hearing from people my age is—everyone who says ‘Let’s go Brandon’ at these football games, you ask them—they'll say Ron DeSantis is our leader,” 21-year-old Pete Duke told Politico. “Not Trump. And they all like Trump.” …And we should believe 21-year-old Pete Duke why?
Propaganda by the bush wing of the party.
The fact of the matter is that anyone who runs against the annointed favorite of the Democrat Socialist Media Complex will be turned into someone polarizing.
Remember the feckless RINO Mitt Romney? Once nominated, he became the ogre personally responsible for giving a woman cancer and firing thousands of workers.
Total BS. Gaslighting.
