Juan Williams: Third party chatter opens door for Trump
The Hill ^ | 12/19/2022 | Juan Williams

Donald Trump — meet Kyrsten Sinema.

Sen. Sinema (I-Ariz.) recently departed the Democratic Party to become an independent.

If Trump follows her lead and runs for president as an independent he instantly launches the most consequential third-party candidacy in American history.

Think about it.

Polls now show GOP voters increasingly rejecting the disgraced ex-president as the party’s 2024 nominee.

If Republicans turn on him, is there any doubt the notoriously thin-skinned Trump will soon start threatening a run as an independent to spite his former party?

A third-party platform allows him to stay in the media spotlight and continue to raise money off his shrinking base of gullible supporters.

It is all about him. Always has been. Always will be.

if Trump loses the primary I can see him running third party. A lot of people would cheer him on if he did that.

And just like the last two times we had a strong third party candidate, the Democrats will win the election.

We got Clintoon in '92 and '96 thanks to H. Ross Perot.

And don't try to tell me that Perot drew equally from the Left and the Right. Perot's message of America First and his "giant sucking sound" from Mexico taking our jobs resonated with conservatives.

the notoriously thin-skinned Trump

??!!

He gives as good as he gets, but he is certainly NOT "thin-skinned". He has taken cannon fusillades and is still standing.

McCain was thin-skinned.

Did “Juano rhymes with Guano” Williams moan and cry when Murkowski lost the primary and ran as an independent against the Republican nominee for the AK Senate a few years back?

Don’t think so.

Why is he so worried about a Trump 3rd party run? Seems like he’d be happy as it would (in his mind) lock in a Donkey win.

It would be too late to create and form a third party. Uniparty destroys third parties quickly.

There’s a co-ordinated effort going on right now by the marxist left to use so called “polls” to cast doubt on Trump’s candidacy and they (THE LEFT) would LOVE to split the GOP and have Trump run as an independent. This most likely would mean automatic victory for the communist democrats.

The left want Trump to do a replay of Teddy Roosevelt in 1912, to split the Republican vote.

Better for AOC to run as a Socialist, to the left of Joe Biden...

It wasn't Perot's fault at all. He was correct on most of the issues. NWO Bush was the reason Clinton won. Perot's issues on trade, outsourcing, .gov spending, debt and deficits are still around, because the dems and gop have failed, and hate America.

“Trump is easily spiteful enough to run third party/independent if he loses.”

We are certainly suggestible today, with the source being Juan the worm Williams.

Now what would prompt Trump to believe, if he can’t win the GOP primary, that he could win the general election.

Easily spiteful???

Go somewhere else, troll.

You have it right.

The letter after the name means jack anymore.

The only reason political parties still exist is to give voters the illusion of choice.

A pol is either loyal to our former republic or to Deep State.

And the vast majority of our pols, at every level of government, have shown they are loyal to Deep State.

Have you noticed that all these deep thinkers on this thread have taken Williams’ B S and are extending it, running wild with it?

Very discouraging. Idiots all.

Trump running as as independent and building a slate of independent “Trump Slate” candidates to run for House and Senate seats across the country is the best way break the hold of the Rep/Dem Duopoly.

It wasn't Perot's fault at all.

Clinton won in 1992 with 43% of the popular vote. The majority of Americans voted against Clintoon, but split their vote between Perot (19%) and Bush (37.5%), giving Clintoon the win.

When news of:

FBI/CIA/Twitter
McConnell withholding financial support for MAGA candidates
McConnell’s lame duck spending,
election fraud,
crime,
inflation,
never-Trumpism,
media
Biden
inflation
immigration
crime

...I must admit I’ve begun thinking about a 3rd party. What’s to lose that’s not already lost
