Two ISIS officials were killed in a US military operation in eastern Syria, US officials confirmed Sunday.
The “successful helicopter raid” executed by US military forces followed “extensive planning” and resulted in no civilian deaths or injuries, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM) press release. Officials confirmed the identity of one of the two terrorists as Anas, an ISIS Syrian province official with involvement “in the group’s deadly plotting and facilitation operations in eastern Syria.”
“The death of these ISIS officials will disrupt the terrorist organization’s ability to further plot and carry out destabilizing attacks in the Middle East,” said CENTCOM spokesperson Joe Buccino.
US involvement in Syria stems from continued commitment to counterterrorism efforts in the region, particularly in response to ISIS, the press release stated. “ISIS continues to represent a threat to the security and stability of the region. This operation reaffirms CENTCOM’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the group’s enduring defeat,” Buccino stated.
The early morning helicopter attack comes less than two weeks after the US celebrated news of another ISIS leader’s death. Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi’s mid-October death on the battlefield was announced by an ISIS spokesperson November 30, making him the second ISIS leader to die this year.
Ongoing military operations in the region “have been successful in seriously degrading ISIS capabilities in Syria and Iraq,” President Biden stated in a December 8 War Powers Report. Roughly 900 US military personnel operate in Syria, targeting ISIS in counterterrorism efforts, according to the US Naval Institute.
Ft Campbell’s 160th and the DAG kicking ass.
So it’s OK to waste them damn terrists in the deserts of Syria, a dump that’s 8000 miles from Southern Arizona, but a big no-no to do that to Sinaloa mafia thugs outside of Nogales.
Got it. Makes sense.
Let’s see if this gets the same treatment as Trump’s dispatching the terrorist leader (I don’t remember his name).
That was a heinous act of narcissistic bluster.
This will be a noble sacrifice to protect democracy and end climate change.
Exactly so.
Trump could do no right.
Biden can do no wrong................
Merry Christmas!
We killed their leaders? Hooray! We won the war again! Lets clean up the USS Missouri for the ceremony! LOL
You don’t get credit for killing terrorists that you created.
In New Mexico, you’ll get your house broken into. Then the guys cousin comes by to sell you burglar bars. Same thing here. State and CIA created ISIS to overthrow Assad. They got outta control so now we fight them....a little.
Biden is deeply saddened. Why use drones when helicopters and real pilots are more valuable.
State and CIA created Al-Qaeda to throw the Russians out of Afghanistan.
State and CIA created the Drug Cartels in Columbia to finance their illegal civil wars across the world.
Those guys really need to stop doing stupid stuff.....................
Very well said. Kinda like the gov’t taking credit for the jobs reports after they shutdown the economy. Born-again jobs don’t get credit in a rational world.
The pinkos running the administration are gonna be mad, bro!
Anas?
They rectum (”wrecked him”?)
They do that here but without hekicopters to American ISIS, pro-lifers trying to save parents from their worst decision to murder their child.
Swat here, swat there. What to believe? Did these 2 guys refuse to donate to biden’s son?
Might be interesting to see similar tactical operations used against cartel leadership that compromise the border, executed in a random and unexpected pattern. But that would require political leadership with real steel balls; therefore unlikely to occur.
Goodbye, Anas.
They bombed your ass....................
State and CIA paid Viktor Bout $60 million to provide transport logistics in and out of Iraq before he was morphed into the fearsome arch-villain, "The Merchant of Death".
