I had an internship at legal assistance for the elderly when I was in law school. After learning about the problems of being old, I came to the conclusion that, in old age, one should never be broke and friendless. If you have to choose between the two, don’t be friendless.
Eddie got the Full time allotted.
His favorite color was Orange 🍊 .
He went Home.
God will take care of you. That kind of kindness will see it’s reward.
Bless you for watching over her.
God Bless you.
Good advice.
It’s the only hope I have
Drunk again, HG? Most sober people would understand that he/she is talking about aborted babies who would be around to care for their aged parent(s) had they not been aborted.
Same here and you learn just how much people don’t care
“Coming soon: The government will be there in her final days as well, to ease her from her suffering with assisted suicide.”
The Canadian way.
“my social life consists of doctors and store clerks “
My kids live on the left coast, a lot of my friends retired and moved since Covid and I’m currently unemployed.
I go to the grocery store and I’m now always starting up conversations with fellow costumers!
Luckily, I’m active in my county’s Republican Womens Club!
(She had no family really left and no one to help her)
I’m in the same boat...
Okay heads up.
The number of single elderly is growing, and it has nothing particularly to do with angry white females. It is an apolitical thing across races. The “family” has faded as a focus of lives. If you are not among them, fine, but that doesn’t affect the numbers.
There are senior centers in pretty much all communities. It can become a social focus for this category. Have a look around, even if you don’t want one. They do exist.
As for the horrors of a nursing home, these places are regulated thoroughly to insist on staff/resident ratios and staff credentials. They are expensive as hell, and that would not be so if they were hiring uncredentialed people.
Average stay at a nursing home is only 14 months, and at the end of that time people do not go home. They die. But note that is an average. There is a large standard deviation. Many are there recovering from injury so they do go home after a few months. And many are there for many years.
Private apartment, meals included, nursing daily that ensures meds taken, usually various social activities. Memory care (aka Alzheimers happens too). These things are expensive. They can be well over $100K/yr, and usually net worth is wiped out and Medicaid takes over.
Research your area. The places are not horrible. They compete. If they were horrible people would go elsewhere.
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee
Luke 12:18-20
Good post, thank you.
Have you any opinions to share on whether long term care insurance plans are useful?
“God will take care of you. That kind of kindness will see it’s reward.”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Just curious: do YOU think this will bring you to heaven? I’m asking just HOW MUCH is your charity worth, in God’s eyes?
Let’s boil it down : Do Good Works save?

You have to decide if you are more likely than the average person to need LT care, because that’s the only way you can beat the premium pricing.
Also, most of those products are not adjusted for inflation. Assisted living and Memory Care have big inflation on them and whatever you buy for LT Insurance will be certain to fall behind.
I remember that ad and it was nauseating. Did anyone ever notice the lefties used the name “Julia’’? Winston Smith’s lover in ‘’1984’’.
Coincidence?
I don’t think so.
God bless you for your kindness to your friend.
No, they don't. But they do tend to show that you did accept Christ and obey Him, living in Love and Thankfulness.
