I bet you’re a lot of fun at funerals.

She could join a good, Christ focused church. I am sure there are couples that need a grandmother in their lives. I would take another grandmother. She may be younger than my parents but maybe an aunt then. People adopt family all the time.

57 years old never married never had kids...this is my reality as far as having no close relatives.

my strategy to keep from being a lonely old man is being involved with others. I have simple rule on friendship. I will put an effort to be a friend with anyone who is putting fourth an effort to be a friend. I live in a condo that has a lot of young families. I try to be the nice neighbor who says hello. at Christmas time the families that I have a lot of positive interaction with usually get token presents like a inexpensive toy for their kids.
This year gingerbread cookies and a tin of kettle corn for the family along with a toy for their kids.
What I am saying to anyone that has no close family left.
As long as you engage with the people around you there will be people that care about you.
