When members of the small Pennsylvania chapter of Secular Democrats of America log on for their monthly meetings, they’re not there for a virtual happy hour.
“We don’t sit around at our meetings patting ourselves on the back for not believing in God together,” said David Brown, a founder from the Philadelphia suburb of Ardmore.
The group, mostly consisting of atheists and agnostics, mobilizes to knock on doors and make phone calls on behalf of Democratic candidates “who are pro-science, pro-democracy, whether or not they are actually self-identified secular people,” he said. “We are trying to keep church and state separate. That encompasses LGBTQIA+, COVID science, bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.”
Brown describes his group as “small but mighty,” yet they’re riding a big wave.
Voters with no religious affiliation supported Democratic candidates and abortion rights by staggering percentages in the 2022 midterm elections.
The unaffiliated — often nicknamed the “nones” — voted for Democratic House candidates nationwide over Republicans by more than a 2-1 margin (65% to 31%), according to VoteCast. That echoes the 2020 president election, when Democrat Joe Biden took 72% of voters with no religious affiliation, while Republican Donald Trump took 25%, according to VoteCast.
Atheists and agnostics form only a subset of nones and are less numerous than evangelicals. But they are more likely than evangelicals to make a campaign donation, attend a political meeting or join a protest, Burge said, citing the Harvard-affiliated Cooperative Election Study.

Bet this group is less than one percent of all voters
True, but abortion is a strong issue for Dems.
When Kansas went 60/40 for abortion I knew there was trouble.
The left doing everything it can to eliminate the Christian heritage of this country. They’ll reap what they sow, but we all will suffer as a consequence.
The same idiots who demand bodily autonomy also demand the government force poison into everyone else’s body.
Dead people vote Democrat overwhelmingly.
Just reaffirms what I learned as a teenager in 1984 when a caller to a local radio talk show said “I’m an atheist and I’m voting for Mondale!”
How you can be pro science and pro individual rights and not be a Christian defies logic. You can be like a baby bird whose science and truth is chewed by an expert and spit into your mouth. At some point the urge to fly and think for yourself must become real.
I see them though.. they run around like perpetual two year olds, you know the ones still sucking on a pack and to be so fearful they cannot be left alone for a moment.
There is no such right to kill a defenseless child...in or out of the womb.
Well duh capt. Obvious. Remove God, what fills the vacuum as he leaves
Who knew?
Ever wonder how much cheating there was at the selection election ??
That should end well for them. Enjoy Eternity, ya losers.
*SMIRK*
Two things: (1) Any Christian who votes Democrat is voting to destroy his own Faith.
(2) All atheists and agnostics are a priori fools, as God makes His existence known to all with eyes to see and brains to think.
At least the latter group has a reason to despise all good people and things, b/c their lives ultimately have no meaning.
Young people are not religious for the most part. Even the ones who say they are Christian don’t go to church and don’t read the Bible. And all the young Republicans are pro-gay.
The future of the Republican party is going to be much more liberal than what it is today. And in some sense, Trump kind of paved the way with his “Gays for Trump” welcoming. He’s far from the only one though of course. You had quite a few Senate and House Republicans vote for homosexual marriage.
Me and mine are still shot free. Praise the Lord !!
Largely disinformation to cover for voter fraud.
Mainline people…
I thought it was a one off until Montana voted to deny medical care for abortion survivors
