House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is confident he can narrowly win the speakership in January, even if it takes multiple rounds of voting for it happen.
McCarthy said Tuesday that if he does not reach the number of votes needed on January 3 to win on the first ballot — that is, 218 votes if all voting members are present and vote for a person, rather than vote “present” — then he plans to put up a fight to win on subsequent ballots.

Multiple ballots? Do you mean voting over and over until the voters ‘get it right’? Careful, Kevin, lets not get too Soviet in your desperate pursuit to keep your job.
McCarthy, it’s on election day you “find” uncounted ballots.
Like the democrats.
Geeesh, didn’t losing the midterms teach you anything🙄🙄🙄
I don’t know the guy, but thus far, my thoughts are “underwhelming”.
Come on, Repubs, we need real men and women, not whatevers.
At this point, do whatever you can do; individually or collectively
Kevin McCarthy lived in Frank Lunz’s house. Frank Lunz is a political consultant.
Kevin McCarthy needs to denounce PRyno.
Electing a speaker can take multiple ballots, I hope the conservatives at least add McCarthy to this list.

I see.
Kevin Hobbs I think is the only one trying to compete and he got about thirty votes on the headcount. Waste of time. This is about extracting deals with McCarthy for committee assignments, rules changes and legislation.
He’ll make voting machines breakdown.
Well it appears it’s him or letting dems decide. I can live with McCarthy. He probably was one of the only repubics that actually got out there and tried to campaign for other repubics. Perhaps though, there are repubics in the current House that WOULD rather a dem be speaker. Wouldn’t that be a hoot? /s
Mail in ballots. That’s the ticket, laddie.
He’s probably right. No one has come forward as an alternative to vote for. That will mean it’s only a matter of time before McCarthy wins.
The Freedom Caucus is filled with morons who always get played because they don’t know what they’re doing.
What’s the alternative? Let me be specific, what is a realistic alternative?
