On Monday White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said President Biden’s Thanksgiving Day criticism of semiautomatic firearms was actually meant to be directed toward “assault weapons.”
Real Clear Politics noted that their reporter, Philip Wegmann, asked Jean-Pierre about Biden’s comment:
The president has said repeatedly that he wants to ban assault weapons, but on Thanksgiving when he was in Nantucket, he said: “The idea that we still allow the purchase of semi-automatic weapons in this country today is sick.”
Obviously, that is a huge category of guns from rifles to pistols to shotguns that are not assault weapons.
Did the president misspeak, or does he in fact want to ban all semi-automatic guns?
Jean-Pierre responded, “No. He was talking about assault weapons. That’s what he was talking about on that morning or afternoon when he was asked that question.”

“That was so obvious.” “Anyone with any intelligence would know that.” “You’re just playing the Gotcha Game.”
.
Biden does this twice a week.
25th amendment before he gets us all killed.
.
Assault weapons are extremely hard to come by, which is why they’re never used in mass shootings. So either Biden is too stupid to know that or he’s a pathological liar. Of course, he can also be both. He’s just that awesome. 🤣
This guy couldn’t find his ass with both hands.
Every single gun owned by my friends and I are all semi auto.
Biden is a dementia riddled jackass.
Maybe we should just carry chains like CornPop…
Well, can we get a definition of “assault weapon”?
Are they claiming to target fully automatic weapons? M2? Thompson submachine gun? BAR?
Those aren’t exactly banned but they are so expensive and restricted that no one commits a crime with them, so what’s the point?
He’s trying to ban the semiautoamtic AR-15. Seems obvious.
And lying about it. Also seems obvious.
A followup question that should have been asked:
“Does President Biden know the difference between automatic and semi-automatic firearms?
Can you as his spokesperson explain the difference?”
Lair.
Sounds more like he let the cat out of the bag
Say What? Hard to come by?
Maybe wherever you live, Prince of Space. But around here, in the sticks, they are widely available, across the whole spectrum of Semi-automatic firearms...handguns and long guns.
Is term that was coined by the media. The military uses "small arms".
The obvious follow up would be “What’s the difference between a semiautomatic and an ‘assault weapon’?”
.
In a Facebook “chat” (2013), the vice resident said that he had advised his wife, Jill, to fire a shotgun in the air from their Delaware home’s porch if she was concerned for her safety.
“I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house,’” Biden said.
“You don’t need an AR-15—it’s harder to aim,” he added, “it’s harder to use, and in fact you don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun! Buy a shotgun!”
One of the things you do if you’re not too smart, is you hire
someone even more stupid than yourself to stand along side
you.
Biden did a very good job on that count when it comes to V.P.
Harris and his press secretary whose name I refuse to bother
to learn.
Don’t believe it. European Union countries for the most part bans semiauto rifles and shotguns, and makes it almost impossible to own any sort of handgun.
Australia bans all semiauto shotguns and rifles, and bans most handguns.
No, banning all semiauto firearms is a goal of this Administration and the gun banners who back it.
There was just so much pushback this time, even from their own side, that they were forced to “revise and extend their remarks.”
This guy couldn’t find his ass with both hands AND a road map on a bright sunny day.
We all heard what diaper brain said. Sorry assault weapon and semiautomatic weapon sound NOTHING alike.
FJB Go to Hell!
Sure, and even a 19th century bolt action rifle qualifies for that definition of “small arms”, as some poor Russian conscripts recently found out.
