EUROPE POLITICS ‘Losing is not an option’: Putin is ‘desperate’ to avoid defeat in Ukraine as anxiety rises in Moscow
CNBC ^ | 29-NOV-2022 | Holly Ellyatt

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February, nobody in President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle is believed to have expected the war to last more than a few months.

As the weather turns cold once again, and back to the freezing and muddy conditions that Russia’s invading forces experienced at the start of the conflict, Moscow faces what’s likely to be months more fighting, military losses and potential defeat.

That, Russian political analysts say, will be catastrophic for Putin and the Kremlin, who have banked Russia’s global capital on winning the war against Ukraine. They told CNBC that anxiety was rising in Moscow over how the war was progressing.

“Since September, I see a lot of changes [in Russia] and a lot of fears,” Tatiana Stanovaya, a nonresident scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and founder and head of political analysis firm R.Politik, told CNBC.

“For the first time since the war started people are beginning to consider the worst case scenario, that Russia can lose, and they don’t see and don’t understand how Russia can get out from this conflict without being destroyed. People are very anxious, they believe that what is going on is a disaster,” she said Monday.

The USA is the big winner in this war. NATO enlarged. LNG and arms exports booming.

When this war is over, RuZZia's economy will be in shambles and its military demilitarized.

Ukraine will join the EU and NATO.

EU will provide funds to rebuild Ukraine into a modern state.

Lady Luck has smiled on these United States.

Since those who run the US are globalists, it is they that won.
We didn’t win. Nobody was going to win this war.

The Ukrainian military is in ruins and now NATO is being systemically destroyed along with the EU. NATO should have been disbanded in 1991, after the USSR collapsed but sometimes lessons come hard.

It might come to that, for sure.

Apparently, very few of my fellow Freepers care that Russia conducted a merciless, unprovoked, and illegal invasion of a sovereign nation and our own national principles called for supporting the attacked nation.

Had we abided by those principles in 1936-38 while the Nazis, the Italian Fascists and the Japanese expansionists were aggressively attacking other nations, WWII and the millions of murdered people would have been prevented - including those killed in the aggressor nations.

NATO isn’t enlarged. No one has been approved.
You can thank Turkey.

Every single thing you wrote is a lie…again.

“EU will provide funds to rebuild Ukraine into a modern state.”

Where has that worked? I would discount examples where the state being rebuilt was previously “modern” such as East Germany. With Ukraine, it woukd be a matter of building a modern state, not rebuilding it. It’s true that the physical infrastructure of Ukraine will require rebuilding but that will not lead to a modern state.

Russia illegally invaded a sovereign country

it’s important that Russia not be rewarded for that, and only punished, because ...

there’s many similar situations elsewhere, right now ... China would like to invade Taiwan, NK would like to invade South Korea, Azerbaijan would like to invade Armenia, etc.

all the potential invaders are watching to see what price Russia has to pay for an illegal invasion ... and what they see will strongly influence their future actions

THAT’S why it’s important that Russia not be rewarded in any way, and gets slapped hard in Ukraine

Destroying Germany’s economy was a great plan by the Biden admin. All those companies can come to America now. Ideally we destroy more countries economies so we get more jobs

Wow, “desperate”, “anxiety”, “defeat” - all the hallmarks of a Zeeper headline.

They did l Ave out maniacal twitching, bloating, dying, missileless, and verge of suicide.

Still, enough there to make a Zeeper pee his pants.

PS - be careful of severe dehydration as you read these articles.

Russia should have known that only America and NATO are allowed to legally bomb countries

Have you been paying attention to the world or do you think that we still live in nation states and that we’re the good guys?

We’re the globalist nations. We are the ones that are going to work the world down to 500 million people and then use eugenics to build up the human race. The former Georgian guidestones are the globalist west’s decalogue.

This isn’t your father’s world, where NATO was a good organization, assuming it ever was. Russia is not a good nation, to be sure. However, the globalists that own us are using Russia to start a war, so they can take over Russia in their desire for a one world government run by them.

The only country remaining that has not been completely taken over by the globalists is the US and that remains to be seen how long that can be held off.

No. We disagree with your spin.

How does having its invasion foiled "destroy" Russia? They won't have lost an inch of actual territory. It wouldn't be good for Putin but Russia will survive.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February, nobody in President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle is believed to have expected the war to last more than a few months.

Few months? they expected it to be over in ten DAYS. They expected Zelensky and the government to flee or sue for peace. They expected the Ukrainian people to welcome them as LIBERATORS! They expected the EU and NATO to cower in fear at the show of the Mighty Russian Bear's Army! They expected minimal casualties and practically no loss of armaments. They were the very definition of hubris...................

That's just nuts. NATO hasn't lost a single tank or aircraft, and is gaining two new members. Relative to Russia, NATO will end this war with the greatest advantage in military strength it has ever had.

Your post #9 is completely correct. The entire world is watching to see if Russia can profit from invading its neighbor, and that is exactly why we must make sure it doesn’t.

not to mention, this war has actually spurred NATO members to *increase* their defense spending ... something they were reluctant to do for years

thanks Vlady, for waking up NATO!
